Can't knock ducks out of the sky...

Update - This morning I met a friend who hunts, and he's bringing me to a nice spot that I haven't been to before. We're doing it properly, blinds, decoys etc. No more pass shooting, going to call them in.

Hopefully I'll have pics of some ducks! (and geese)

Just got home. Got 3 mallard drakes! Turns out the 3'' BB's did better than the 2 3/4'' #2's.

First ducks ever!

Congrats!

I can recall last year leaving my duck blind after three hours of hunting. I was alone in the cold morning air looking across a narrow muddy field toward some ducks working a patch of standing beans. Sitting on my four wheeler, with a heavy camo jacket, two bags of decoys, a shotgun, a dry bag full of ammo, and a bunch of duck calls with three ducks strapped to the back of the whole rig it hit me...duck hunting is the most expensive method man could devise for bringing home the equivalent of $7.00 worth of chicken. :D

I do love it when it works...and it's still cheaper than a therapist...which is what I'd need if I couldn't escape to the outdoors.

Hi,

So today I was in the marsh and I was hiding when 2 mallards came bee lining towards me. I thought I was definitely in range (within 30 yards) when I popped up and shot at them with 3'' BB 1 1/8 loads at 1550 fps using a Modified choke. I swear I had both of them, but both of them sort of stopped in flight and then flew off confused.

I've had that happen. I know I hit a duck dead to rights, and then the invisible hand of The Almighty reached down and healed it in mid-flight. It never even missed a wing-beat. It was a miracle I tell you, and I saw it happen!! A dead duck came back to life right before my eyes and flew away.
