Can't leave it alone...Mods, De-horning, etc.

I'll worry about what future (and present) collectors think at the same Warren Zevon said he'd sleep.
when I'm dead
I might try to keep original bits and pieces in a box or bag. Who knows, I might even remember where they are.

If you have ever worked in a large machine shop then you'll understand that when parts come off of a mill all of the 90 degree corners on them are just as sharp as a well honed knife. They must be dressed down or every single person that handles them will get nasty cuts. I have noticed recently that Ruger has FINALLY done something about their triggers on all of their DA revolvers. For many years those things were left with really sharp edges on the sides of the trigger and everybody complained about their finger getting mangled by them. I rounded and polished more of those triggers than I can remember and every customer came back and said it was like a different gun. Little things matter......

I noticed EXACTLY the same thing about the CZ75B. It put me off from buying one.

I may yet buy one in .40 S&W, but if I do, it'll be (or end up as) single action only and have any sharp edges knocked off of the trigger.

there is no possiblity of preserving collector's value in my guns.
i only have working guns. most have near 10,000 rounds thru them n all get carried lots so they all show holster wear.
they are modified to do the job i want them to do.
resale value is irrelevent.

Future collectors will hate you.
Nah - future collectors will see their unmolested collectables appreciate further, because the become less common. And the OP mentioned a PX Storm subcompact - not really seeing this as an item for "future collectors." Not sure this thread was even originally about collectibles though.

I leave guns as close to factory as possible, and make sure any changes I make are reversible.
Agreed, though most pieces I acquire don't need much improvement IMHO.

On the other hand, picking up a junker and restoring/enhancing it can be a cool thing. Taking a purely "working gun" and modding it for your unique purposes is another example - hopped up IPSC pistols for example. They are for competition, customized for the original owner, and ostensibly not intended to be collectible (or even for future resale - just shot until they evaporate).

"De-horning" is just another word for "bubba-ing."
That's going a bit far. Yes, a bad dehorning job can be an example of bubba-izing. I've seen some home jobs that were as asthetically appealing as taking a wood rasp to the edges.

My soon to arrive SAR K2P might, if the squared off area above the grip bothers me. I shot one mag through one, so I don't know if the edge will bug me or not, but if it does, for $235, I will risk sanding the edge down a little. Right under and behind the "Made in Turkey". One friend says it bugs him, the other is "What?"

When I get a new gun, or one that's new to me, I invariably change something on it.

I leave a new gun totally stock for the duration of the warranty period and then I start thinking about modifiying it.

I like tinkering with my guns to improve them for my own personal use.

My latest project is a Gen3 Glock 26.

Nothing too outrageous; extended mag release, extended slide lock bar, modifying the trigger guard to eliminate "Glock knuckle"
