I just got a but well cared for .44 ca1. Lyman New Model Army black powder pistol made in Italy. I would like to purchase some percussion caps and have some extra nipples on hand. The gun did not have any info with it and I want to buy the right stuff. A box of caps that came with the gun are #1075 by Navy Arms. I can't fine the #1075's in my area. Is this the same as #11 caps? Also what would the nipple size be? :banghead:
Also anyother information about the gun would help.

I do know that the RWS 1075 caps were manufactured as #11's.
They may fit a little more snug than other #11's and are often said to fit like 10.5 caps. But they were intended to fit any #11 nipple.
They can be slightly squeezed if they are too loose in any way.
Just make sure that they are seated all of the way down on the nipple cone because they are just a wee bit taller than some other #11's which can sometimes cause them to fit tighter on the gentle taper of an individual cone.

I don't know which replacement nipples are needed. That would be based on which manufacturer made the revolver. Is there the Uberti logo located under the ram handle or maker's marks stamped anywhere else on the gun?
The Uberti maker's mark, a capital U surrounded by an octagonal device, and other maker's marks are shown on the following page:

Thanks Arcticap. Looks like my gun is Gardone as it has "PN" plus has the star and the coat of arms. But it doesn't have the marking for the year of manufacture.

jebnc,

Read this thread about caps and the tubes the fit on over on this site:

Read the entire thread, it addresses 1075 caps as well as the other available caps and it helps you under stand how the tubes are sized and what size caps that will fit them.

There is also an explanation of why "pinching" caps is really not a good idea. which appears on the 10th page of the post:

Mako
