Capturing AR 15 brass. Spinal troubles. Catch bags?

I have the old style Caldwell. It works fine on my AR, not so well with my son’s AR. The newer Caldwell catcher looks like a much better option and obviously is from reading comments in this thread.

Another option is to make recalcitrant children stand in the path of the ejecting brass. That way it will fall to the ground in a smaller, more defined area. The degree of recalcitrance determines whether the child faces the brass or gets to stand with their back to the brass. I like that it kills two birds with one stone: gets kids in line and makes it easier to pick up brass. It goes without saying the kids wear safety glasses.

The easiest way to make one is a put some cloth strips over the opening of a cardboard box set on its side. Take a book box, cut off 3 of the 4 flaps, tape that in place. cut an old shirt into strips, hang them over the hole with tape or staples like a beaded curtain. Set it beside your rifle and enjoy.
