Test shot the Caracal F in both standard and quick sights...

Immediately ordered a Caracal F QS... The agony of license waiting begins...

I thought there was NO grip in the gun but I guess that's just an illusion. I can't see myself buying a gaudy-looking gun either. Let us know how the Caracal shoots when you get it!

my LGS allowed me to shoot their shelf unit... i fired 50 rounds on the 2-dot sight version and quick sight (QS) version...

in my very unprofessional hands, it seemed like the pistols tracked their own shots... at 15m, 5-shot groups fired in rapid succession were within 3in diameter circles... likely due to the smooooooooth trigger pull and minimal flip... of course, if i badly shot the 1st round, the other 4 would be equally bad...

shot it against the 24/7 G2 and a Tanfolgio/Armscor MAPP1... i'd have to say i was getting the opposite results from what i expected... i was able to find targets faster with the G2 than either caracal... but the caracals were more consistent and faster in follow up shots...

the MAPP1 is really nice (cheapest of the bunch by a fair margin too) but it just didn't float my boat... i'd have to say the DA pull is the worst of the bunch but SA was sweet... this resulted in 1 shot way off followed by 4 consistent shots (though less consisten than the G2)... if i didn't have a thing of firing from DA for the 1st shot, i'd likely enjoy it...

between the caracals, the QS was quicker at finding targets than the 2-dot system... the QS looks like it'll take some range time to get used to... the difference in target acquisition between the G2 and QS is minimal but noticeable... maybe i just got used to the G2 over the last weeks...

i just couldn't come to terms with the 2-dot version... i couldn't find the target which seemed to be covered by both front and rear sights (no gap between the front sight box and the walls of the rear sight)... i was consistently off target by several inches...

if i were forced to use a pistol against an attacker right now, i'd still say the G2 would be my pick... i'm likely to find the target sooner and fire with it... the slick trigger of the QS also needs serious getting used to... with no safeties and what feels like a light SA pull every time, the QS seems scary to carry... time will tell if the QS will change my mind...

Thanks for the report! I have heard these are being imported but I have yet to see one. I don't think they are my cup of tea but the polymer crowd now has a new option I guess. (I do actually own poly guns but not a lot)

I'm from the Philippines.

Armscor, the local disti, is one of the very few stores that allow test firing...

It's from the UAE, not the Philippines.
i was saying that I am from the philippines...

we have a local disti (distributor) who imports the gun from caracal, uae... the local disti is armscor who also builds the MAP1/MAPP1 under license from tanfoglio, makes their own 1911 pistols (marketed in the US as RIA, i think) and builds the sti spartan locally...

Hi boylit

I have a Armscor MAPP1 MS and like the gun a lot and have looked at this gun as it is sold locally here by Centerfire Systems. I also own a couple of Taurus though not the 24/7. My PT92 is probably the most accurate of any of my guns including my 1911 models.

I got to shoot the Caracal while at the SHOT Show earlier this years and was very impressed.

The QS looks very different when you first see it, because we were all brought up believing the a longer sight radius makes a gun more accurate (it doesn't). The QS is very quick to pickup on target...especially for older eyes...and doesn't have the same drawbacks that the XS sights present

Just picked up my Caracal C with quick sights from my FFL via Gallery of Guns. It is the most ergonomic semi I've ever handled. Will be headed out to the range this weekend.

Congrats, look forward to your range review.

Mine has become one of my favorite guns to shoot.:D

What's really goofy is that they're listing a used Caracal C on their own site for $479, while they themselves are only charging $432 for the new one :)

Used:

New:

FWIW, they don't have the QS models, but if you just want a Caracal, Centerfire Systems has the best price I've found on them - $399. They used to offer free shipping on all handguns. Don't see that listed on the site right now so I'm not sure if that's still active, but I'm sure shipping would be less than $33.

They used to cost more and availability was limited, I'm sure they will be selling the used one cheaper eventually.

They do show the QS version at Bud's.

Centerfire is dumping old stock, once they're out the prices will go up to at least where Bud's is at.

We are selling the standard sight version for $440 and the QS for $455 at my buddies gun shop, looks like pricing is in line with everyone else.
