Hello.
I recently purchased an AR-15 carbine and like any owner of a new tool I would like to learn to use it properly.
I am seeking out hands on instruction in the shooting, cleaning, and use of my rifle. I.E how to clear jams while shooting, quick mag changes, cq shooting, and general handling.
I know that there is a plethora of internet videos that teach these things but I have always been a hands on learner and really nothing beats having a good instructor there in person. And nothing beats real range time right?
So if anyone has any suggestions please respond.

Clint smith is an excellent trainer (I went there years ago when he was still in texas) and I’d recommend taking his classes but only if you also take classes from other instructors.
Clint is very old school. From his YouTube videos, he’s borderline curmudgeon. Very entertaining though and some pearls of wisdom. No nonsense style.

For the past 15+ years there has been a constant flow of delta and seal types retiring and wandering around the country conducting training classes. Those guys have quite a bit of modern experience and the techniques they teach reflect a lot of learning over 20 years of war.

then you have 3gun and similar competitors who win a National championship or two and start offering classes.

my advice is to take at least one class from all 3 groups. If you can only do one, I’d prob go with the middle group with the understanding that as a civilian, some things they teach may have different legal consequences in the US than Afghanistan.
