The Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA) v Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) shootout on 05-17-1974.
Some of the SLA members used M-1 Carbines during the shootout.
Approx. 9000 rounds were exchanged during the 3 hour firefight. All the suspects were killed during the encounter.

This remains one of the largest police shootouts in history with a reported total of over 9,000 rounds being fired. Every round fired by SLA members at the police missed the officers.
