The Colt M4s marked Law Enforcement/LE and the Bushmasters...does anyone know if they are restricted items...I know they have 16 in barrels, but not sure if the the LE markings indicates they are restricted...and does anyone have an opinion on increased legal liability since they are so marked?

in a state w/o an AWB. so long as it doesnt have "da switch" and has a 16" barrel. i believe its good to go

You didn't mention what state you live or if the M4s were semi-auto so I will they are semi-auto and assume that it is a state where M4s are legal. If that is the case then there is no issue. Increased legal liability? I am a little confused by what you mean by that.

The semi-auto M4s...seem to be for the civie market...as far as liability goes...I shy away from stuff marked tactical...or with threatening names...always concerned about how it would look in court if being sued.

Yes many people here own semi-auto M4s. Select fire is only for the ruling/ military class.

I guess. If you were being sued do you really think it would matter what your firearm looked like? I mean when you think about it don't you think whatever actions you took or did not take will convince a jury of your peers? Being fraid of gun because of the way it looks or how it is named is not very rational.

I kinda follow Ayoobs thinking on stuff like that...and spent most of my adult life in positons where liability was a huge concern

For you then it is probably not a good idea to get one even though they are very widely owned by millions of people and carried by the vey people who protect you while you sleep. If you hesitate when you should not because you are afraid of how you will look in court with your black rifle than you probably won't live to see the inside of the court.

Get a more friendly looking rifle. I hear they even come in pink now (seriously). However I would still be a lot more concerned with my actions than my friendly looking "instrument of death and destruction" that the plaintiff's attorney is certain to make it out to be.
