Merry Christmas Folks!

I am trying to decide what to do with my reloading equipment boxes. I have kept the original boxes and packaging for my presses, powder meters, tumbler, etc. I'm struggling to find a place to store these unused boxes.

Questions:

1> Is there a reason to keep the boxes?

2> Do you keep your boxes?

3> If you keep them, how do you store them? Problem keeping them in the attic or garage rafters?

Thanks!

I see no point of keeping them unless you plan to sell out and need to ship them somewhere.

The only boxes I ever keep is old gun boxes, which can add considerable value in certain cases.
Reloading equipment boxes have no value as far as I know.

The only reloading box I ever kept was the RCBS powder scale box, and I kept it for dust-proof storage of the scale when not in use.

I would probably keep an electronic scale box in case I had to send it back for repair.

In most cases no.

When moving time comes, you obtain ordinary boxes, of consistent size, and lots of bubble-wrap.

Exceptions are tools that only get used occasionally, and which fit neatly back into original boxes for storage.

I used Hornady's very sturdy box to ship the press back for repairs. 3 times in the first year. Since, then, it's been operating just fine and I'm thinking of finally getting rid of their shipping box :)

The only reloading equipment box I've kept is for my 5-10 scale. I'm pretty gentle with it and don't want it getting knocked around. After all, it's over 30 years old.

Yes I keep the OEM boxes...reasons:

If ever I need to ship the press back to the manufacturer (I've done this twice).
For resale to someone else (adds value).
For storage and protection while not in use.
For proof of purchase on rebates.

I'm with Otto, I keep all my OEM boxes. Within reason that is, if it is a big item or a gun. I am retired military, so I moved around a lot, and that could have added to the reason to keep the boxes. They are a lot easier to move in the original box, but hey, everyone has their own opinions and reason for doing things. I think you gotta figure this one out on your own.

I'd say that pretty much covers it.

I also use the scale box store my beam scale in it.

Another vote to keep the scale boxes - if you need to return an Ohaus scale, the originals were designed to withstand shipment from the maker to any point in the country

I usually keep mine and once sold a complete reloading outfit, all in the original boxes. However, I once rented a storage unit for my office for several years and finally realized there was nothing in it but empty boxes.:banghead:
