Everyone's mom told them that growing up, but how many mom's told their sons they could soak their bp stained brass in Tarn-x and then just rinse and wipe?

Best heed cpileri's warning! His quote is directly from the Tarn-X FAQ list. Click on the link he provided and read for yourself. DO NOT use it on brass.

Try using the cleaning mixture of water, vinegar and a dash of liquid laundry detergent. It gets the brass nice and shiney inside and out. It's especially good in an ultrasonic cleaner where it gets everything nice and shiney in only 3 to 5 minutes.

I tend to use roughly the following mix for this. 1 quart of warm water, 1 to 1.5 cup of plain grocery store cheap white vinegar and a tea to tablespoon's worth of laundry detergent. This is all done by eye hence the ambiguity in the amounts.

Even without an ultrasonic cleaner a 5 to 8 minute soak followed by a scooping out into a collander to drain the insides and then dunk back in for another 5 to 8 minutes in order to change out the wash mix inside the cases still works pretty well. I then use the collander to dunk'n drain the brass a good half dozen times in a sink full of rinse water.

Spread the wet brass on an old towel or cookie sheet and place in a warm area with some sun and breeze and it'll dry in a day. The reason it even takes that long is due to the primers still being in place. I reload progresively so I don't bother de-capping. Instead I simply give brass more time to ensure it's dry.

If you have to dry it indoors simply lay it out well and leave for a few days to a week.

Yeah, it's not a great method if you're in a hurry. If you are then an old toaster oven or running a warm fan equipped room heater onto the laid out brass will speed things up and you could reload the next day.
