Why not? :) Well, because the factory sheath leaves a lot to be desired.:(

I LOVE my 840 MG Clipper. But it stays in my pack do to the loose fitting crappy sheath. I know there are leather makers and Kydex benders out there who can fix you up. But as I am frugal I wasn't about to spend $20,$25,or $30 on a sheath for a $12 knife.

So I bought myself some Kydex and built my own. Using a beat up toaster oven, couple of boards and a fleece blanket for a press, a hand saw and sandpaper for trimming,a drill, and my pop-rivet gun. (those grommets are a pain to set,so I cheated)

My very first sheath...

Now this light, slicing machine will get some earned carry time.:)

No professional Kydex bender has anything to fear from me. But I do have a few inexpensive knives around here that will be getting some brand new cheap pants.

Nice work---I love American ingenuity. Where do you buy the Kydex sheets and how much? What temperature did you set the oven and how long did you leave the Kydex in before bending & shaping?

Knifekits.com, about $10 for a 12X12 sheet (bought two) with grommets (didn't use), premade belt loop (didn't use), and chicago screws (used two on my belt loop).

300 degrees for ten minutes. Pressed for ten minutes.

I should get 5, maybe 6 sheaths out of what I bought.
