OK. having trouble concealing a gun. I don't want to buy a small pocket gun or J-frame. Don't want a fanny pack or dayplanner with me either. I'm not the kind of guy that likes to carry those things around. What are all the different carry methods to conceal a medium to large frame auto? I've been looking at smart carry but it looks like it may be a bit uncomfortable. You know, being in that area. Is it? Could you use a regular IWB holster and wear it in the front?

Thanks a bunch. Also is mexican carry bad if you're just like running out the door or something?

I will probably get flamed for this but for me, large auto 1911, I
use a Galco Sob hoster. (small of the back).

No never Mexican carry ever if you want to keep the twig and berries.

i have a smith and wesson sigma it has a 4inch barrel and a full size grip with a double stack 14round mag. i use a Uncle Mikes ™ nylon retension holster tucked between my belt and pants, it keeps it nice and tight to me to where i can wear a t-shirt sometimes and get away scotch free.

with a light jacket im fine as well as driving in a car its never uncomfertable. but right now im gonna order a super tuck. my brotehr has one for his XD9 and ive tried it as well and loved it, can easly conceal with a t-shirt with no printing and is very comfey.

Here's a Gunblast article on concealing larger firearms.
Hiding the Heavy-Weights

If you're considering off-body carry, the Maxpedition Fatboy Versipack, and Jumbo Fatboy Versipack work well. A bit slow on the draw. They're handy for biking and hiking, and anytime you'll need lots of stuff and a way to carry it all around. They're right hand and left hand specific, BTW.

During winter months, I usually carry a Witness Compact 10mm, which is roughly the same size as most "full-size" 9mm & .40 pistols with 4" tubes. I carry IWB @ 4 O'clock and cover it with a jacket/coat. During the summer, I carry either my PF9 also IWB 4 O'clock with shirt untucked or my P3AT IWB at 12 O'clock with shirt tucked in. The clip hides behind my belt buckle.

Methods of carry are extremely dependent on wardrobe, so you're just going to have to figure it out.

I find a good comp-tac CTAC (IWB) to work well. Granted you need the extra waistband space to accomodate it, but I was able to conceal a USP 45F and a 1911 GI-size with it without any problems.
