It looks like I can't carry in Nevada any longer as they don't have reciprocity with Arizona (where I do have a permit).

Does anyone know what the Nevada/Las Vegas laws are on carrying a loaded gun in a vehicle?

I don't know the regs, but I do know that Nevada is open carry. I met a Metro guy one day at a place where I shoot, and asked about loaded guns in the car.
He said there's no problem, except in North Las Vegas, where it's best to keep the gun and ammo separate.
Also, in a traffic stop, if they don't ask about guns, you don't have to tell.
If you move to Clark County, the rules say you have to register handguns within 24 hrs. and get a "blue card" from any metro station.
Here's the link for NRS chapter 202. All you ever wanted to know:

It may be wise to print that and bring it along, knowing how various LE's have "selective memory".

No, you don't have to register your firearms within 24 hours! :banghead:

Statewide preemption went into effect in Nov. 2007. You only have to register in Clark county and only after 60 days.

Open carry is legal, but the NRA and local groups are having a tough time making North Las Vegas and Boulder abide by state law. You can open carry, but they may very well hassle you.

As for the car, with a handgun, you can carry loaded openly. You can carry loaded concealed as long as it is not on your person or in a bag/pouch/briefcase on your person. Put it loaded in a case on the floorboad and you'll be o.k.

As for traffic stops, don't ask, don't tell. Those of us with Nevada CCW's come back as having CCW's when they run us through the system anyway.

Have a good time but I would strongly encourage you to stay out of North Las Vegas!! Very bad crime rate. Watch for the street signs to go from green to blue and then get out of there!

Well, kind of. Open carry IS legal, but it's by no means common. I can't remember the last time I saw someone doing it. I'd expect to meet some nice police officers in any urban part of Clark County. (In NLV, maybe not so nice.;))

Unless you're exceptionally brave and willing to be a test case (and to investigate the mysteries of the Clark County Detention Center), you should NOT open carry in the resort corridor. Vegas does not like people scaring the tourists. The casinos WILL expel you, they WILL call the cops, and you will very possibly have to convince some seriously skeptical boys in beige that open carry is legal.

(As an aside, there are new, perfectly nice areas within the city limits of North Las Vegas, with oodles of nice, foreclosed-on houses.)

Thanks guys, it sounds a little patchy so I think I'll pass.

Pity, the G26 really wanted to see Vegas. :(
