How do you guys carry your S&W 442 ? I am trying to find a good holster to carry it outer waist band. I dont like inside waist band . Right now I am carrying it in a pocket of my pants when I go on quick trips to Walmart and such.
I wouldnt mnd a holster to carry it in a cross-draw form .
Any help is appreciated. I am trying to get ideas on how to carry it other than inside the waist band .

I normally carry mine in a pocket holster, but I've got a cheap leather OWB belt slide holster from Gould and Goodrich (the B891 model) I use when I occasionally belt carry it.

Works pretty well for something I think I only paid $25 for. I've even experimented using it in a sort of cross draw position, though it does hold my 442 more or less vertically I can have it at about the 10 oclock position and grab the gun with either my strong hand, or my weak hand if I twist my hand around.

I use a fobus paddle holster for my smith snubby, i find it comfortable and keeps the gun easy to draw.

Lobo Gunleather. They have a great rep on the S&W forums. Pancake or Enhanced Pancake. I think 4-o'clock is better for concealed OWB, but if you're set on crossdraw I would call and talk to them about canting the pancake for that.

You may consider the Blackhawk Serpa if you want a plastic paddle or belt holster, or the Blackhawk Speedclassic, both available through Optics Planet.

I carry in a Don Hume JIT Slide. It's avery small OWB belt slide holster that retails for 25 bucks. I carry at 4:00 with a cover garment and it is very comfortable and effective.

The JIT slide isn't the greatest type of holster for a large, heavy gun, but it is awesome for a 442. The combo is so light, that I wear it on a normal belt vs my normal gun belt.

I carry mine in my front pocket in an Uncle Mikes. High Noon looks like they make a nice holster for it.

I usually pocket carry.

For OWB, I have a Bianchi 57 "Remedy". However, I like the Galco Executive even better than OWB belt carry. The 442 is so light you don't even notice it in a shoulder holster.

Here is the the Bianchi:

I personally like J-Frames such as the 442 as pocket guns, and I always use a pocket holster (the DeSantis Nemesis or Superfly are my favorites). If you want to go with an OWB belt holster, I would look at a leather pancake style, such as the Galco Fletch or the Bianchi 57

That was my thought-
If I was gonna carry OWB it would be bigger than a snubby.
When I do carry one of my snubbies it is in the front pocket, Uncle Mikes or Desantis.

Typically I'm not inclined to carry a J frame in an OWB holster; seems like your adding more weight and bulk to what is supposed to be a lightweight proposition. Instead I pocket carry using an Uncle Mikes holster. Having said that though I really like the look and design of that Bianchi 57 holster and might consider getting one for my Model 638.

Desantis Nemesis Pocket Holster, front right pocket. Breaks up the outline, stays in the pocket during the draw, and doesn't move around like some other pocket holsters (blackhawk, uncle mikes)

For a belt holster I carry my 442 Pro in a Lobo Model 1 Pancake with Optional Inner Hammer Shield.
I also have a Nemisis, and a Tuff Products JR Roo Pocket Holster One each in a couple jackets I wear, Inside Pocket.

I also have an LCR-22 that I carry on the belt in a Lobo Enhanced Pancake again with Optional Inner Hammer Shield.

I also have a J Frame Serpa, it is hard on the finish. My 442 has not been in it, but my 638 was for a while when I was Police Chief.

As mentioned earlier give Don Hume a look see, I hip carry 3 different J-Frames on occasion in his holsters as well as IWB, whatever strikes my mood that day....
