Cases and socks

If you put your gun in one of those silicon gun socks, should you put it in a zippered gun case? I have a few guns that I inherited and no longer shoot, so this is for long term storage.

I have more guns than I have safe space. So the safe is crowded. The sock just protects the guns from direct contact in storage. When transporting I place a piece in a more protective case such as hard sided or well padded one that’s designed for transport.
IMO the sock doesn’t offer much protection from knocks, drops or rough handling.

Added comment. For long term storage in a safe location the sock is adequate.

Like above, everything in the safe is in a sock and some have not been out of the safe for years. If they come out, they stay in the sock and go in a hard case for transport.

Putting it in a zippered case for long term storage could lead to rust issues.
