I just purchases a NOE 8mm .323 mold .
It is a 216 Gr. Spire point Gas Check design.
Does anybody have any favorite loads for Cast Bullets above 200 grains,or any favorite powders that they use ?
I was shooting a Lee 175 gr. with 2400, Unique, IMR 4159 and SR 4759, but also have the old stand by H4895 to try.

Wow,
A lot of lookers, but no response, I guess Armoredman and myself are the only ones that are loading cast bullets for the 8x57.

while I haven't loaded any lead bullets for my 8mm's as I don't cast and haven't bought any commercial cast yet as they're hard to find. But I do have data for the Lyman 214gr bullet in my One caliber load book that could be useful to you.

Thank you guys.
I had the Lyman info but was wondering if anyone had already tried any loads with the heavier bullets.
I will probably try SR 4759 and IMR 4198 first and see how they do.
But my stand by for plinking loads with lighter bullets has been 2400 and Unique.
I do expect the heavier bullet to drop like a rock at 100 yards, but cant wait to hear the Thud these heavy bullets makes on mine and Armoredmans Steel Gongs at that distance.

I like H4895, But you use half again as much powder to only gain a couple hundred FPS in the top loads.
We are trying to cut Plinking costs and shoot more ofter with the powders that are availabe to us.
These old guns are more about fun than anything else with cast loads.
We also want to use a powder that can cover many calibers that we load like Handguns, and other rifles like the 7.62x39, .303, 7.62x54 and .308 with cast bullets.
