These three sows were in the traps at our lease today. Each weighed about 150-160 pounds. All were fat. The two we field dressed were not pregnant. The third was given away whole.

A fourth hog escaped from a trap by tearing a hole in the end.

I have had my traps all shut down since the start of deer season....and the hogs have virtually disappeared anyway due to the over abundance of acorns everywhere in our woods. I went out this morning and saw rooting around the area of one trap that was maybe 20 yds across, so I reset that trap and dumped a bunch of corn in front of and inside of the trap. I'm hoping for some action in the morning. Darned if I don't have more fun as a whole with hogs than I do with the deer.

Yep, it's a lot of fun.

We are not the only folks trapping hogs in that area. We are running feeders, not sure that others are. Most of the hogs in that area are on the wheat fields.

About the time i've got hogs figured out something else happens. There appear to be groups of wandering hogs in addition to the three sounders that visit the place daily. We routinely catch hogs we have never seen on game cameras: Some are the most colorful hogs i ever seen.

There is a good chance we will catch hogs this weekend. Gent we gave the two sows to yesterday is up for more hogs.

Stony, the acorns are KILLING me this year. HUGE crop of acorns. The deer and hogs haven't started coming to corn YET and bow season was a wash. Oh, well. Such is life. You have to put up with that some seasons if you hunt small acreage in Texas. Not enough room to go find 'em and I've never had a lot of luck doing that in dense woods, anyway.

Boy can I agree with you on that one! These woods are just too dense to get out and find the deer or the hogs. I guess we just have to wait for some rains and sunshine to rot those darned acorns away before we get back to the stuff we love to do. I had a small bunch of hogs and a few really nice bucks come by in the middle of last night, but the hogs didn't bother to get in the trap. I spread more corn this morning to see if I can get some to visit the trap tonight.
I think I might pop one more deer too if I were to see a nice big guy in the daytime. I've shot 3 so far, but gave one spike away to an old friend that can't hunt anymore.
