Just received my CC permit from the state of AZ, thank you very much.

I'm planning on carrying an Interarms Walther PPK in .380. Living in the Valley of the Sun (113 two days ago), most of the time I'm wearing shorts and an untucked shirt. Looking for recommendations for an IWB holster. Also, is it better to wear the holster on my right hip or small of the back ?

Thanks in advance, guys.

While it is in fact a Sig 230SL, our favored pistol fits perfectly in your Walther PPK's IWB. Ours is from El Paso Leather and was made in South Africa outa something along the lines of horse hide grade leather.

These things conform well to the pistol, are very stiff in composition and secure in their retention but neither jabbing nor abrasive to the wearer. The weight is carried low in relation to the waistband clip so it never gives the impression of wanting to tip from your belt and thus also carries well in the side pocket of most of my pants and shorts.

After many years, the clip shows no sign of giving up the ghost any time soon and the stitching is first rate.

Where I wear mine shifts depending upon driving, clothing, do I care about OC etc..

This thing has been knocked around in purses, backpacks, golf bags, tool bags, sweated all over and absorbed it's share of chemicals and still holds up amazingly well and is the reason I look to El Paso first for what I need in other pistols now. Some times they come through, sometimes not but I go there first behind my satisfaction in this particular holster.

CI used a DeSantis Speed Scabbard OWB on the hip when I lived in Pima and Cochise County. The size of the PPK is so flat and small I never had any concealment issues and this kept the sweat off the gun. SOB carry looks cool but has no advantages whatsoever.

I have a WW2 made 32cal PPK and it does not appear to be drop safe when the safety is disengaged and it is uncocked in double action. When the safety is on it is awkward to quickly disengage the safety.

Looking for recommendations for an IWB holster.
While I don't have a PPK (always wanted one, but just never got around to buying one), I rather like the DeSantis Cozy Partner IWB, or the Galco Royal Guard (both available for the PPK). Although the Galco is a very nice copy of the Milt Sparks Summer Special IWB, it also quite pricey so I would probably go with the DeSantis which you can find for less than $60 with a bit of shopping. ;)

Also, is it better to wear the holster on my right hip or small of the back ?
Most people seem to consider SOB carry to be rather dangerous. If you where to fall on your back with a chunk of metal right there, it could conceivably cause serious spine injury. I would stick with the 4 o'clock position, just behind the hip. :(

I think you might like a Crossbreed Supertuck holster ! I usually carry just behind the hip on my strong side , for you that would be at about 4o'clock if you are right handed or 8 o'clock if you are a lefty like me ! I sometimes carry small of back ,but it is not comfortable when driving , or sitting for long periods . Kevin

The Crossbreed Supertuck is superb for managing a slightly heavier gun, the offset clips will spread the weight and keep the holster from moving around.

Don't forget that you need a real gunbelt with pretty much any holster, a great holster hanging from a department store belt will flop around and generally feel like crap, while a so-so holster hanging from a good gunbelt will be steadied and strengthened by the belt.

And don't bother with SOB, the concealment isn't as good, the draw is awkward, and it poses a real danger to your spine.
