Well...I've been a shooter my whole life and have enjoyed being part of discussions around here for couple of years now. I finally signed up and am on lunch break at the moment from my CCH class.

I would recommend this class to any shooter really just because of good discussions related to legal self defense and questions I've always had and just never investigated much.

The instructor is great.

We're going back for live fire here in a few.

Class in Western NC.

cost $85, which is a bit high compared to other nearby classes - esp since this one doesnt include lunch! :(

take care

It was $75 each for our CHP classes in the Sandhills. A different instructor, in heated/air-conditioned facilities, charges $100. Both are bring your own lunch.

IMO, the instructors give you a LOT for your money. :)

$85, don't complain... by the time I was done with my fees in Texas (including the registration) I was near $300. You guys have it cheap compared to us!

Congrats on taking the course!

I didn't need a class as my hunter's safety course I took years ago was valid for the training requirement in VA.

My wife just took the online course offered by http://www.concealed-carry.net that runs $40 and is good for a VA CHP. She's been shooting for years with me so she just wanted to get a refresher on the laws, etc. This was a great way to get her training requirement done. She aced the test and is now excited to get her paperwork in for her CHP. She even caught the one time the instructor in the video accidentally placed his finger on the trigger. I was very proud.

I watched some of the video and it did a pretty good job of covering all the bases. I'll still get her to a basic pistol training course, but it's nice not to have to spend a ton of money on the CHP class and instead put it to a real basic pistol training course.

piece of cake

The live fire was pretty fun. I have always shot in my backyard or out in the mountains or for uncle same . . . it was cool to be on line with other shooters and go through the motions and the drills. The instructor went out of his way to bring in many MANY examples of handguns an passed them around for all to see...also some rare catridges from the 1800's an early 1900's. Legal stuff was good to know - basically common sense but some things were tricky.

I get my 1911 a1 back this week and am going to look into some ispc/idpa shooting at the ranges - it was cheap to be a part of and I already handload so . . .

anyway, I recommend the classes at Rex's, and On Target looks good as well.

take care

Glad you finally went ahead and did this! You'll have to tell me more about it, and come down to a match soon!
