This video is best viewed in full screen mode. This footage has been edited to keep the video to respectable viewing times, I am not rapid firing.

I have tried CCI Greentag Competition ammunition in 6 different rifles and in each rifle this ammo produces inconsistent groups, mainly extreme flyers as demonstrated in this video. I have test much cheaper ammo not branded competition that produces much more consistent groups. I even sorted this ammo by headspace to achieve the best accuracy possible in an attempt to reduce these flyers but obviously something else is going on.

The Savage MKII TR actually does shoot it ok if you alleviate the flyer from the group.

So am I being to critical of CCI Greentag ammunition? Let me know what you think in the comments.

not every ammo shoots well in every rifle. It happens. I shot 50 rounds of federal cheap 4c/round current price at 50 yards two weeks ago (yards, not feet as the internet confuses them), and all 50 were in the 1" red circle. I shot some winchesters that cost three times as much out of that rifle two days ago, and they were 2.5 inches. Shot some more of the Federal to see if it was just me, but they shot in the red still. Green may be good for some people, bad for you. Im also shooting a Savage MK2

I tried quite a few of the competition/target grade .22 ammo in my guns a few years back, with CCI Green Tag being one of the ones I tried. Across the board in my guns Green Tag was just so-so in terms of accuracy; nothing in my opinion at the time that would have made me want to buy any more of it. Have had much more consistent accuracy with Wolf Match Target, CCI MiniMags, and CCI Standard Velocity.

Green Tag shoots very well in my bolt action 22. Not saying that Green Tag will shoot very well in the next bolt action that I buy. When I buy a new 22 I also by several different brands of 22 caliber ammunition to try with it.

There are a few different brands that did not shoot well in the 22 bolt action that I have now but if I buy another 22 caliber I will certainly give these brands another try.

Yeah so have I. Though wolf is not imported anymore. SK+ and SK Rifle Match are the same as Wolf Match Target and Wolf Match Extra.

Fortunately I was able to pick up quite a few bricks of Wolf Match Target at a gun show some time back for an amazingly low price. I'm pretty well set with that and mainly use the CCI ammo for practice.

It would be interesting to see the chrono results concerning how much slower those flyers actually were with some ES and SD summary stats. Judging from the groups, CCI might not like those SD and ES results tagged to their competition offering. In order to decipher if a person is being too critical, you have to separate the ammo from the firearm - ie - is it that the ammo is inconsistent or is it that the barrel does not shoot the ammo well. I've had extremely consistent ammo (the manufacturer did their part) that my particular rifle did not shoot particularly well.

For Smallbore prone competition, the ten ring, on the 50 yard A23/5 target is 0.89 inches, the ten ring on the 50 meter target is 0.787 inches, and based on my tests, Green Tag will not hold the ten ring either at 50 yards or 50 meters. I will not shoot Green Tag in any Smallbore Prone competition. Based on the amount of time, money, I spend going to a match, I am not going to shoot in competition, ammunition that shoots as poorly as Green Tag.

I shot the last of my Green Tag in Bullseye Pistol competition. It did function my pistols, and it did go bang each and every time. The ten ring at 50 yards, with a pistol, is about 4 inches in diameter, and to date, I have met my goal, a couple of times, of keeping all my shots on the repair center! (which is about one square foot!) I have shot mid 90's, but I am far from cleaning the target at 50 yards, so the inaccuracy of Green Tag is not limiting my scores with a handgun.

What kind of scopes are you running? Where is the parallax set? If they aren't parallax adjustable that could be biting you in the butt at 50 yds.

All scopes are parrallax adjustable on my 22's and set for 50 yards or where it is best clear to my eyesight. One of the scopes were set a little under 50.
