cci primers

A guy gave me some cci primers, I use winchester so I need some help on how to use these, he gave me 1000 cci 300 large pistol primers, can I use them in .45LC? also some BR-2 large rifle benchrest primers, can I use them in my .308?

Yes & Yes.

Primers is primers unless you are already on the Bleeding Foreskin with a worked up MAX load of some kind.

As long as they are the right size for what you are loading, which they are, use them.

RC is as usual correct.

Powder charges make a larger difference than primer changes, but you can sometime see things where a primer change makes a difference. As you can see with the Russian primers and WLP.

But between a WLP and a CCI standard, don't sweat it.

BR2 primers are too expensive for me to use, but I have lots of buds who use them in match loads all the time. Those are excellent primers in the 308.

Wish I had friends who gave me BR2 primers ........

Boy, I wish someone would give me 1000 CCI primers.

CCI is probably the best selling brand name.
So go ahead and use them at your convenience

In my tests with CCI and Win LP primers the CCI 300 primer is slightly milder than WLP primers. In all loads I've tested the CCI gives slightly less velocity with all other things the same. Like said, unless your loads are maximum or above switching from WLP to CCI 300's would cause no problems. Always best to check though. I shoot a lot of CCI primers in pistol loads and they have been very consistent.

I use mostly CCI primers over the years but during the last "shortage" I put a fairly large supply of Winchester LP primers in. The current Winchester Large Pistol primers are rated for both standard and magnum loads so it stands to reason they will be a little "hotter" than the standard CCI LPP. Winchester doesn't make a LP magnum primer but CCI does.

I get equal accuracy from both CCI and Winchester pistol primers. I feel both are fine but out of habit I prefer using CCI.

As stated, Yes & Yes! I use CCI LR BR in my non belted large rifle applications and they really do perform more consistent, and especially so when using compressed charges where ignition can be spotty with standard LR primers.

And so far as CCI is concerned, I have been using them for many years and have never had a single mis-fire.

I use BR-2s exclusively in 308. They're a bit more expensive, but in my experience they really do produce more consistent results.

There is no possible way for a Win primer user to use CCI primers... I am in Southern IN at the moment, quickly box those up and give me your address so I can swing by and get them for use by a CCI prmer user<----namely me !!!
