I had reloaded 2000 45ACP rounds with CCI large pistol primers, I have had a bunch of bad primers where I get a good strike on the primer and nothing.
So I gave a bunch of guys some of the ammo and had them try it out same thing, BAD PRIMERS. This sucks I will have to take apart al of that ammo to recover what I can. I will never use CCI primers again.

I have never had a problem with CCI primers, that is all I am loading with now, maybe you got a bad batch somehow?

I predominantly use CCI41's and CCI400's when I can't find the 41's. I've also used CCI small pistol primers for 9mm and they all went bang...

You might want to take the time and call CCI and give them the lot number so they can check on them. With the lot number, they can at least tell you when they were produced.

I called them a while back when I bought some really old CCIs at an estate sale. They were all made in the late 1980s and they all went bang.

100% for me as well, and I still have some from the early 80's that work just fine. Gotta think as others have mentioned that a bad batch got out, or perhaps some contamination along the way?

Willing to bet CCI will more than make up for your troubles.

CCI's, and CCI's...

Frank D 4--Second the motion to call CCI and ask what's going on. I hope that what you learn is that there was one bad batch.

For my own reloading, I've used Federal, Winchester, and CCI primers. At the moment am using more CCI's than any other.

Scored several old boxes of CCI Small Pistol primers @ a gun show, and have been using them in bullseye pistol league. Have had not one single primer-related problem ever, with CCI's and for that matter with any other brand.

:D The CCI's may even be helping me with the bullseye shooting--I'm doing better this year than ever. It couldn't possibly have any relation to all the practicing I've been doing.

Gee whiz I hope that what you're experiencing is an isolated problem!!

Did you try to fire them a second time? You know two hammer strikes to see if you may have not seated the primers far enough? I have never had any CCI primers fail...NEVER!!

Also...How is your hammer spring? Messed with (modified) or weak (doubtful)...

Thanks Guys

I am on the phone with them trying to get to the right person.
I will post when done.

I've only used CCI primers since I started reloading more than 15 years ago.

Large pistol, small pistol (magnum & regular), large rifle and small rifle.....never had a problem or issue.

I think in almost 30 years of reloading I might have had 1 CCI primer that failed to fire. I use more CCI's than anything else. I'm interested to find out what CCI has to say.

I bought a brick of Win T-22 years ago and called them about the 18 duds I had with my S&W 41. Win sent me 2 bricks of T-22 for my trouble. Problem was one of the bricks was of the same lot number I had the trouble to start with and it was no better. I've since shot 2 cases of CCI standard (thats 10,000 rounds) and had maybe 3 duds.

The only time I ever had a problem with CCI primers was when I loaded some hunting rounds for a friend of mine.He too had good primer strikes, but no bang. This went on for two seasons(deer).I really felt bad,as I had never before had a handload that didn't go bang.He even had his rifle to the smith where he bought his rifle.they didn't see any thing wrong. Before the beginning of last season I had him leave his rifle with me.I took the bolt apart and found that the hole for the firing pin was a little bit oblong.Made it round and now it goes bang every time. This probably isn't your problem as you've had others try the ammo.Although sometimes it is something very small that will keep a round from going bang.Maybe primer set in too deep or some other thing just slightly out of adjustment.Check and recheck.

Dillon has asked it's customers not to use CCI primers in their machines. Seems the quality control is not so good and they tend to stick in the primer tubes. I've got 2 dillon machines and have continued to use my stock up of CCI and have only encountered
small problems. They like Winchester, Remington, and Federal.
