oneounceload has it absolutely correct. Prices rise to where demand is curbed. Otherwise, no stores would have primers and when they were received you'd never see them on the shelves because employees would buy them up and sell them on the blackmarket/secondary market. The fact that many stores are rationing the primers is an indication that they are not price gauging as they could raise the prices to where only a few could afford primers and would be wiling to pay the higher prices. Ultimately, if primers aren't banned, taxed, seized, demand should drop dramatically putting the producers in almost the same position as the car companies. They've satisfied future demand going out years for some and those people will not buy until they have gone thru their inventory or they liquidate it or even destroy it (guy dies wife tosses 25k in primers in the trash or in the lake).

This happened in 1994 when they (Klinton) talked about adding ingredients to make primers inert after 1 year and rationing them. Prices rose to 60 a thou and up. When I got all my own equipment in 2003 and started strong at this primers were 19 a thou. They have increased in price gradually, but this sudden increase is unnecessary!

Im still paying $28 a 1000, but they hardly ever have any, but i check pretty regular, some people say it will get better, i am not so sure? But if it gets worse we can all use our presses for trotline weights! Csa

Bushmaster...

I buy wholesale and was a boy scout. Primers are not/will not be a problem here for a LONG while.

I'm not laughing at people who would get caught in the desert and are forced to buy $100 a gallon water....I'm wondering why they decided to go into the desert without water in the first place???

1. Didn't know it was a desert

2. Never been to a desert before

3. Believed someone would be there with $100 a gallon water and thought that would be okay.

Remember boys and girls...It's not the number of primers you have....
