Now concerning the shootings, if you were a CHL holder and you were trying to protect yourself/loved ones, i believe youd be in plenty of danger because of the mass hysteria/fear of anyone with a gun that isnt in uniform.

Esp the police, seeing a plain clothes man with a gun. I'd fear being shot by police.

So maybe its not such a bad idea after all, just to have one around.

I have always wondered about this, however you would have to realize that in order for you to be in any jeapordy, you would have to still be actively defending yourself, i.e. shooting back, for you to be shot on the spot by police. In the research that I have done, by the time the police arrive, not only would the threat be over, or you and the attacker be out of ammo, or you'd be dead, but you would also have enough time to reconceal your weapon and fully comply with any orders the police gave you, and give your full report to them.

At least in my town anyway, the police are more of a cleanup crew than anything.

People that carry a CCW badge are attempting to impersonate a police officer, and that is a felony in most jurisdictions.

Having a CCW badge is not going to prevent a uniformed officer from shooting you; there have been several off duty or undercover police officers killed in the last couple of years, because the uniformed officers assumed taht any one with a gun but no uniform was a BG. Those officers had badges, and they still died.

Save your money, don't buy a worthless badge that may get you charged for a felony; the legal fees for the lawyer to defend against the impersonation charge will buy a lot of guns and ammo.

The badge is not a shield, it won't protect you; you would be better off buying body armor, it that isn't illegal in your jurisdiction.

Screw these <Expletive's> Badges!

We have folks dead, dying, injured for life at VA Tech and a frigging badge is supposed to be of use?!?

I have had a gun pointed at me, I have been shot at . I assure you the last damn thing on my mind was some kind of badge being a civilian.
I have been right there, with my CCW in hand, at low ready with the Police right below me on the steps.
Honest to Betsy, I was in the best position to take a shot, if the persons exited that Apt.

Neighbors informing Police who I was and the off duty Police officer above me on the next floor.

Now, when the officers ask you to make safe and holster - you do it!
When the officers ask that you leave a certain direction - you do it!

When an Officer that lives in a complex hollers for "Officer needs Assistance"- Someone dials direct.
Some of us ran to parking lot to "observe and report"...it got a bit more 'busy"than that.

When the Calvary comes in with brakes screeching, about 6 units mixed State, City, and
County - tire smoking, officers jumping out with guns all around even though that officer that knows you , lives in Complex says "he is good"...
Other officers know you and they yell out - "he is Good"

By Gawd y when that County Deputy , that does know you, with 870 pump BARKS " Drop it you SOB! you drop what is in your hand, hit the pavement and spread 'em!
Sorry my 4 D Mag-Light is no longer considered "kewl" - by golly it did assist stopping an immediate threat to an officer and tenant and ...

Hell BGs get Fake Badges, Get Blue Lights [Blue Light Rapist] and Police Tell Folks to NOT Trust a Badge, or Blue Light.

Take prudent , reasonable steps , be civil, and verify ID of officer if need/ Drive to safe area, well lighted.

That is why some states require some Unmarked Cars to have Markings on Passenger side if they work the roads to give speeding tickets ( whatever).

Badges? Hell- BGs were using blue lights, some even getting old cars like unmarked Police , wearing a frigging uniform, and Raping women.

I sure as hell ain't going to buy into someone with a CCW badge.
Knowing me some one yells out with a CCW Badge I am going to think they are a lying who-know-what and figure THEY are the BG!

Seen too much crap pulled to trust most things in life...

FWIW - Officers will kick away a firearm and asphalt will scratch it up pretty good. I understood and respected this...

Just thought some NetNinjas might appreciate the thought of shiny NetNinja guns getting racked across pavement...
Oh, them electric engravers do a real nice job of engraving a evidence number on kewl slide too...
Imagine they do a nice job on a frigging CCW Badge as welll...

What next? "I am a stud" badge to impress the girls?

Maybe its just me, but I didn't really understand much of your post sm. Were you in a situation where a LEO turned on you when you were a good guy, or did you kick someone's ass who was faking being a good guy?

You have got to be frickin' kidding me!

Seriously, these threads debating the validity of CCW "Badges" churned out by the Walter Mitty Tin Stamping Corporation are utterly beyond the pale.

I am, quite frankly, shocked at the number of people who seem to fall for this kind of stupidity.
