First off, I really liked my Bersa Thunder .380. Accurate and reliable and loaded with +P as my CCW choice. BUT I began to be concerned about being at the lower end of the "stopping power" scale with my .380, even with +P. So now I am the proud owner of a nib SA XD-9 sub compact (3" barrel), as my new CCW choice.
I'm not new to the XD. I had owned an XD-9 service (4" barrel) before, and it was a faultless feeder/extractor with any and all ammo configurations and was clearly the most accurate polymer-framed semi-auto I have ever fired. It was always POA/POI, during all range trips, but I traded the XD-9 service for a Sig Pro. I wanted my HD gun w/ decocker, just to add one more layer of safety to my home with kids and neighbors.
When buying the new XD-9 sub, I was on a budget, so I also had to trade-in my trusty S&W 642 Airwieght AND the Bersa to aquired this new XD-9 sub for a couple of bucks over the value of my trade-ins.
Tommorow it's range time with this shorter version. I expect to be pleased again.
***Edit: to correct my error on the brand of +P ammo I used in the Bersa.
