First off, I really liked my Bersa Thunder .380. Accurate and reliable and loaded with +P as my CCW choice. BUT I began to be concerned about being at the lower end of the "stopping power" scale with my .380, even with +P. So now I am the proud owner of a nib SA XD-9 sub compact (3" barrel), as my new CCW choice. :D

I'm not new to the XD. I had owned an XD-9 service (4" barrel) before, and it was a faultless feeder/extractor with any and all ammo configurations and was clearly the most accurate polymer-framed semi-auto I have ever fired. It was always POA/POI, during all range trips, but I traded the XD-9 service for a Sig Pro. I wanted my HD gun w/ decocker, just to add one more layer of safety to my home with kids and neighbors.

When buying the new XD-9 sub, I was on a budget, so I also had to trade-in my trusty S&W 642 Airwieght AND the Bersa to aquired this new XD-9 sub for a couple of bucks over the value of my trade-ins.

Tommorow it's range time with this shorter version. I expect to be pleased again.

***Edit: to correct my error on the brand of +P ammo I used in the Bersa.

Bersa Thunder Sub-Compact 45

I like the XD, but next time your looking for a CCW, look at the Bersa Thunder Sub-Compact 45. Just a THOUGHT! I LOVE MINE!

S&W10mm

Let us know when you get a sub xd or Glock cause the 4" is too large. :neener:

I would have kept what I had I would never trade 2 for 1 .
Also Corbon 380 is not +P Their is no +P in 380.

Correction, my .380+P was Speer Gold Dot and not the Cor-bon as stated. Thanks for noting that. My two-4-one trade was a great deal for me. I sold off two good CCW choices and now have a great CCW gun for just a few addition bucks. The sub XD9 has the S&W j-frame beat with twice as many rounds capacity (10 vs. 5) and the 9mm in plus-P has the Bersa .380 ammo beat with twice as much ballistic energy.

It's a win-win any way I slice it.

I did consider the larger Bersa for a while, but I like to shoot my guns frequently and the cost of 45acp is about twice that of 9mm around here, so I stuck with the 9mm. My Sig is also 9mm, so it keeps things simple to just have both in 9mm. I've heard good things about your Bersa .45. Hope you enjoy it.

Good choice, I am sure you will be happy with it. I have and carry a subcompact XD in .40 S&W and am very happy with it. It is comfortable to carry, hold, and shoot.

Glad to hear that. What kind of rig have you found to work best for your XD sub CCW? I am in the process of searching out my CCW holster choices. This XD came with it's own OWB XD Gear holster as part of the package, but I think I can do better. I'll be looking for a comfortable IWB carry at maybe the 1 o'clock or 3 o'clock location.

I'm open to your suggestions and experiences. You could save me some bucks and headaches if you have found some XD gear to be less than satisfing in the past and let me and others know. Thanks

I have the same pistol & use a Comp-Tac CTAC holster. It's kydex, cant adjustable, tuckable & has a variety of belt clips available. I use the v-clips for maximum concealability. Tucker uses the same holster & puts a leather shield between you & the kydex for comfort. I have no problem comfort-wise without the leather, but I'm thinking it might be nice to have the leather as a sweat shield during the summer. I've also read good things about Blade Tech holsters.
