I received my Concealed Pistol License (CPL), yesterday, in
the mail. Interesting that is is marked as valid exactly 30 days after the date of application, 10 AM Oct. 12, 2007 . So, I get it on the monday
prior to the friday when it begins being valid. Someone in WA State on this list said in Olympia they had an option of having it laminated for $1. Since
it is a standard 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper how would this lamination be accomplished to make it convenient to carry on your person as you are
required to do when 'packin'?

Well, the fun part, since I don't have a pistol that is easily conealable,
I see a need to go shopping for one that is easily concealable.

.

When I got my last WA CPL, there was a portion of the permit that was perforated, on that 8.5 x 11 sheet. That's the portion you need to carry.

Punch it out, fold it in half, laminate. It ends up being a little bigger than a credit card, but it still fit nicely in my wallet.

Am I reading this right??? a 'license' that one would normally carry in their wallet is a full sized sheet of paper?? what idiot up in Oly thought that one up??!!
The last Wa cpl I had, years ago,was wallet sized,as they should be I'd think.

That's the way mine came. If you go to Wade's Gun Shop/Range in Bellevue they'll laminate it for you. Of course there are a zillion other places you can get that done.

Does it vary from County to county like it does here in Oregon? I know in some counties ours are printed on plastic cards like a drivers license, and other they are well not so pretty.

C'mon be realistic, it's not an 8x11 sheet of paper it's a 3"x2" piece after you fold it in half and then laminate it. Still fits in the wallet no problem, and is only a little bigger than a driver's license.

Correct. But it is still larger than a standard credit card or DL and barely fit without laminating. Laminating requires at least another 1/8" all around to seal and make it even larger. The edges of mine are so worn that some printed information is gone.

I'm not whining about it, just figured by the time I renewed they would be using the standard PVC cards like most other states have gone to.

I just used clear packaging tape to self laminate mine.the tape is as wide as the card, so just center the card front over a piece, same for the back, and then trim the ends.Viola-just like laminated (not quite as stiff though) without the extra 1/8" or so around the edges.Mine after spending 4 years in my wallet 24/7, it still looks like brand new.It now resides on my living room wall amongst other gun "decorations", as my Oregon CHL has replaced it.I've been "laminating" stuff like this for many years, and everything has always held up great in my wallet, no matter how long it was in there.Worst case, just add a second layer of tape (I've never had to though).
