In the past two months I've tried to order handguns from CDNN. One demo Walther PPK, the other a used CZ 75B. They were out of stock both times. For the heck of it I asked about used Sigs, didn't have any of those either. It seems that their catalog showing handguns is inaccurate before it hits my mailbox.

How do you guys manage to buy from CDNN? I don't see anything on their website that displays a current inventory. Their handgun supply seems to run out before the ink is dry on their latest catalog. I have signed up for email alerts 5 times but have yet to receive any.

They have great prices, but short of calling them every day how do you know what they have in stock at any given time?

CDNN (sofar) doesn't have anything that I need, that badly.

Several years ago (just before the magazine ban) I tried to order some G-21 mags.
My shooting buddy had just ordered 5 (for $18.00 apiece) and CDNN had them in stock.
I tried to order them 5 minutes later and they claimed that they had them, but the price was $150.00 apiece!!!!!!!!!!
Again. . . this was a FEW days before the ban took effect.

I politely asked why 5 minutes before, the price was $18.00 and now $150.00 for the SAME magazines.
I was told that the price was $150.00, take it or leave it.

I asked them if they wanted me to ship them some salt and pepper, because as far as I was concerned, they could EAT the $18.00 mags that they were trying to sell me for $150.00!!!!!!!!!

Newbie here, but I concur, this forum pointed me to them, I called about a deal on their 'latest' catalog, someone called about a day before me and got the deal, I called and it was out of stock

Similar thing happened to me at Impact Guns, slightly different, but similar.

Timing is everything I suppose.

The magazine and the .PDF ar only accurate at the time of their publishing. They print once each quarter. So for about two months and thirty days the advertisement MAY be out of date.

The advertisement is doing its job by getting you to attempt business with them.

CDNN deals fairly and that is why they stay in business.

I was just making jokes about this

with a buddy of mine at work.

CDNN has some really good deals, and when you can get lucky with the timing, they have reliable shipping and good customer service.

For just that reason, by the time I get my print catalog in the mail, most of it's just a nice picture book to look at while you're on the can.

If you are really hot to buy, you can download the new catalog the day it comes out.

I've gotten good deals from CDNN and missed out on some because I waited for the print catalog. First place I look for magazines and grips.

About a year ago they were selling NIB Beretta's 96D, 96D Centurion and 96D Compact at BELOW wholesale prices. I order one of each and was not disappointed with their service.

I've bought from CDNN numerous times without a problem. Just ordered an HK USP Custom Combat last week. If you don't jump on the deals right away they do sell out. Here's how it works:

1. I recieve email saying newest catalog is available for download.
2. I call them up and order selected items.
3. 3 or 4 business days later my stuff arrives.
4. I go home and anxiously await a repeat of step #1.

I have had nothing but positive experiences with CDNN. I have a stocking FFL who keeps a want list from me, and other customers; a CDNN salesman calls him at least weekly, they talk, if CDNN has got in anything that any of the FFL's customers desire the FFL has it in two or three days. I have also ordered directly from CDNN and had the item shipped to the same FFL.

From what I hear, CDNN has excellent service if they actually have something in stock to ship you. The trick seems to be getting a handgun that is advertised in their catalog for a great price that is not sold out. Apparently you cannot depend on their catalog. So how can you know what they have in stock? They probably don't want me calling everyday and asking them if they have this, this or this, or how about this?

It is a normala market dynamic. If you have a great price, peopel tend to buy the product. Thus, the product is depleted rapidly. I have had mixed results from CDNN. Sometimes they have had what I needed, sometimes they have not. The better the price the morelikely it is to sell out quickly.

I have dealt with them

I just in january I wanted to order 15 G22 mags new LE mags because they were cheaper, and I thought I might need a few extras. I also decided to get a little cheap scope for the 22 rifle, because I was ordering and don't like paying shipping twice.
when it came, all I had received was the scope and no magazines, I have dealt with them many times and always put in the end message, feel free to call me, and I will probably take substitutions if you have them.
No call just a scope that I could have bought for the same price here after counting shipping . Grrr at them.

What we have here, is a failure to communicate.

CDNN specializes in buying entire inventory's from other dealers/distributors, especially closeout merchandise or businesses closing down. They buy the merchandise below wholesale costs, and then can resell it at varying discounts. How do you guys think they're able to sell merchandise so cheap? Did you think they were buying at wholesale like other gun dealers, and then selling below wholesale (and loosing money) just because YOU were such a good customer?

Come on!

CDNN is like a liquidator. They buy the merchandise way cheap, and then ALLOW us to share in their good fortune. Whatever they buy this time, at whatever price, in whatever quantities, is what they have. When its gone, ITS GONE. What's wrong with that? Don't whine about it.

If they don't have what you want, then go pay retail at you local gun shop. As for me, I will continue to take advantage of GREAT prices on merchandise at CDNN.

I saw that they had blued 41 Redhawks, wanted one! My dealer called them for me, called me back. Do you want blue or stainless, 5.5 or 7.5 barrels  got me a stainless 5.5 "

If you want the good deals, call FAST.

Everyone else is doing the same......if they have 400 Glocks new for $389 then do you really expect them to still have them 2 weeks after everyone gets their catalogs. I dont.

I did get in on the $209 KelTec P3ATs.....even got an OD green one.

Hey JamesNM, thanks for pointing out CDNN's business model. I would have had no idea if you hadn't responded with your criticism of my post. My "whining" I think you said. Thanks, bud.

Ok, now that that's out of the way. I am aware of how CDNN does business. My question was if anyone else is frustrated with hearing "out of stock" for the items they wish to purchase. And the other side of the question is how you can predict what they have in stock at any given time since they are sold out of their product quicker than you can finish downloading their catalog. There seems to be no online database that has CDNN's current product and price list.

There appears to be no answers to this. It apparently is hit or miss. You have to call them with random model requests just in case they may happen to have one in stock. If that's how they do business, that's their problem. I want to know the rules so I have a chance of winning their game once in awhile.

You can't predict what they're gonna have, and there is no online database with current inventory and pricing for guns. They have catalogs that come out 5 or 6 times per year. What I do is order from the same guy each time so he remembers me. Then I call periodically to see if they have anything new, and BS with the salesman.

I never call them and tell them what I'm looking for. That's what your local dealer is for. I call them and they tell me what they have. If its something I'm not interested in, I simply pass. I don't complain about what they don't have. If it's something I want, I buy it. Hope this helps.

And by the way, welcome to the forum!

In the seven messages you've posted here so far, you've expressed unhappiness with SOG's business practice as well as CDNN's. I sense your frustration.

Robert, my intent was not to get to off to such a negative start! Hopefully my posts are not seen as such.

A buddy of mine gets his CDNN catalog about 10 days before I do. He lets me know about the deals so I can order them before they are sold out.

You probably have the same problem... it's in the mail service.

I get some of my merchandise as closeouts. "Send me a case of blades."

Dirt cheap, and potluck.

As to why CDNN doesn't have a running database...that would require programming a running database and regular entry of inventory. Not that hard to do, but that means another full time employee to track it all.

You want to pay for that?
