CDNN HiPower

I bought one of the SA models when they were on sale , it was brand new and in perfect condition. Probably the best deal of this past year.

I've bought several guns from them in the last couple of years. Very reputable company. I don't think I've ever heard anything bad about them.

They have a disclaimer, however, that says any function problems with any firearms will have to be addressed by the manufacturer. They don't take any guns back, as far as I know.

They are a liquidator, and sometimes you can get some excellent deals from them.

Luck!

I had read some where that they weren't "true" Hipowers. As a side question, do you think it would be better to spend a little more on a CZ-75.

The CDNN FN Hi-Powers are legitimate HI-Powers; they just don't have the Browning rollmark. No big deal. In every respect, they are quality guns, made by the folks who make them for Browning to put it's name on. <grin>

And my experience with CDNN is like others, here: that's a first-class company. The few times I've had problems (magazines), they made them right, quickly, at their expense. I would NOT hesitate to buy from them.

CDNN is a US closeout distributer.
They sell what others can't seem to move and they do quite well.
I have never had any problems dealing with CDNN and they charge their shipping rate as a flat fee now.
The more you buy the better that shipping charge looks.

Alright I thought it sounded fishy. Does the Single or Double action have the nicer trigger? Sorry for all the stupid questions.

This was my most recent acquisition from CDNN:

It is the full-size 9mm FN HP-DA that CDNN has on sale for $350. It is exceptionally well engineered and has an SA trigger break that belongs on a pistol costing twice as much. Its accuracy with my 9mm handloads is on par with my 9mm CZ 75B. I replaced the stock 17 lb. recoil spring with a Wolff 20 lb. unit intended for the Hi-Power; felt recoil is now wonderfully dampened and spent cases fall about four feet away.

A total pleasure to shoot and, at $350, possibly the deal of the century on a high quality DA/SA 9mm autoloader. I might just have to get another one before CDNN runs out of them.

No personal experience, myself, with the Hi-Power DA versions, but have not heard much about them except, "avoid them." They seem to be solid guns, but NOT the work of art that the SA BHP is...

The ones I have seen I have been pretty impressed with. It's the "Hi Power" name that is misleading. If they called it the Military 1 or somthing, anything but Hi Power, you would probably hear raves about how great it is. It ain't a high power, but it is a solid gun.

Can you tell me if the new HP DA's have the bass ackwards up for fire and down for safe like the old BDM's?

If that's true it looks like they implemented it better on this model though. Does it use 15 round mags? How do you like the sites?

The lever on the rear of the frame is the ambidextrous decocker. Pushing it down releases the cocked hammer to a "half-cock" notch, from which the pistol can be fired in double action mode, if so desired. The double action trigger pull, though somewhat heavy, is exceptionally smooth.

At the time I purchased the HP-DA from CDNN, they were shipping it with only one 10-round magazine. About a week thereafter, CDNN started packaging them with one 10-round and one 15-round magazine. I called them up to see if I could purchase a 15-round magazine at reduced cost (since I had just bought the pistol from them); they mailed me a 15-round magazine at no cost. Now, that's service! :)

For my purposes, the iron sights are perfectly proportioned for easy target acquisition. From the factory, the sights are not painted, but there are rectangular depressions on the front and rear sight faces. I painted them in with flourescent paint (red in the rear, white in front) and they work well.

I think the DA mags are different from the traditional hi-power mags. I don't think they're interchangeable.
Traditional Hi-Power magazines do not fit the HP-DA, but according to a post on FNHiPower.com, the HP-DA's magazines do fit and function in the Hi-Power pistol.
