CDNN S&W Grips

Now that I've got a red-dot scope on the way, I think it's time to replace my Hogue monogrips that came with my 625 with something wooden. Since CDNN has wooden target and normal grips for N frame revolvers for 10 dollars, I'm really thinking I'll order some. However, for ten dollars, I understand they wont be like custom grips that will cost me 100 dollars or more. Anyone have any experience with these grips?

They are just standard target grips. Nuthin special, but they are more comfortable than slim service grips.

I see. The picture on the site doesn't tell me much, so I thought I'd ask around to see if anyone has them installed on their guns. I know they'll look better than the rubber, though.

shipping from cdnn is usually a set price of 9.99. So, that makes those grips $20. I would have to say just come up with 40 bucks more and get a really nice set of Ahrends Grips ( which I was recently turned on to by fellow THR member Baphomet). They are extremely nice and go for $60 (+$6 shipping). I wish I had found them before I paid $85 for a different set.

I've got a set of their K frame target grips on a S&W 64. They seem just as good as the S&W factory grips, except without the mediallan, or the higher price.

Your 625 should be a round butt, the grips you linked to are for a square butt. So it wouldn't work anyways.
Try the Hogue website. They sometimes have factory seconds on there that look great and are really affordable.

I don't have direct experience with those S&W grips, but I bought some of their cheap Colt grips, and they were not so good. They just didn't fit that well. The two halves don't line up perfectly, so you can feel a definite ridge where they join when you grip them, pretty annoying.

Since the S&W ones have a similar part number to the Colt ones (SIL07 for the S&W, SIL70TR for a Colt set), I'd guess they are made by the same people (Sile, I think).
Probably fit as well (not) as the Colts.

I'd save my money for a set from a more reputable maker, IMHO.

I was not happy with a set of Siles that I ordered from CDNN. They were a bit rough for my taste. I traded them off. Good grips are worth what you pay for them. I recommend Hogues or Ahrends as well.

I bought some $9.99 CDNN grips recently for a S&W J-frame. These were walnut, with finger grooves and a smooth (non-checkered) finish. On the inside they were stamped "Made in Italy". They serve the purpose at reasonable cost, but the fit with the frame and between the two grip halfs is a bit sloppy.

Hm, alright. I'll see what I can find other than these cheap ones. I'll probably end up saving my pennies and getting some good ones. Thanks for the imput, guys.
