Holster, grips for S&W Model 63? Grip link

I've just committed to buy a S&W Model 63 Kit Gun with 4" bbl, old enough to have a pinned barrel. It'll be my first ever Smith & Wesson, *and* my first DA revolver. I pick it up this coming Monday at "High Noon"! It's never too late, even at age 50+!

Does anyone know of a holster that's made to fit a 4" barrel J-frame S&W? I've been looking for something in an inexpensive padded nylon holster, & there are lots of choices for 2" J-frames, and lots more for 4" K-frames, but nothing for the 4" bbl Kit Gun. Looks like I'll have to settle for a 4" K-frame model to begin with- don't want 2" of barrel hanging out the bottom of the holster! If you know of a better solution, please let me know. Can't afford any custom made hand-tooled leather holsters right now.

Also, the gun has only the little factory wooden grips. I was thinking of a pair of Pachmayr Compacs for some truly weatherproof grips, & may still get some. But then I saw these square-butt J-frame walnut service grips at CDNN, for $3/pair! These should fit my soon-to-come model 63, right? They should certainly be a lot easier to hold on to & shoot than the factory grips. Too bad CDNN charges $10 shipping- guess I'll have to work up a bigger order!

Congrats on the 63. They're great little guns. I bought mine nib in 1980. That gun has about a zillion rounds through it. I taught my son to shoot using that little S&W when he was about 9 yo.

I bought a pair of grips off e-bay that look exactly like the ones from cdnn. They were about $10.00 including shipping. I like them much better than the Pachmayers i had on it. I've bought several different grips from cdnn and was satisfied with all of them.

I bought a no name nylon holster for a "small frame revolver" at a gun show. The type that has the adjustable retaing strap. It works just fine.

Thanks, MagSnubby. CDNN has several other grips to fit square-butt J-frames, I may try a few more, along with a $10 nylon holster. Realy looking forward to getting it, even at my age I feel like a kid before Christmas, can't wait until Monday!
