I would guess at the price listed it is one of the converted single stack ak's . You may or may not have issues with all mags fitting right and trigger slap.

Is this the kind of AK I am going to have to do a ridiculous amount of work on it? I wish I could veryify exactly what kind it was...

The rifle pictured is not an SAR-1. SAR-1's all have a black plastic pistol grip.
The WASR-10 rifle is the one that some folks have modified to accept high capacity magazines.
I have one SAR-1, and two SAR-2's (5.45x39mm). All are the 2003 models with laminate furniture. I have had absolutely no problems with any of them. Some may have canted front sights, or gas tubes. Some may have trigger slap. None of mine have any of those problems...But, I purchased all of them from local dealers, and was able to inspect them before purchasing.
I am not sure what specific model is shown in that pic. But, it is not a WASR-10,or an SAR-1.
If I were you, I would shop around for an SAR-1.:)

In my search for an AK, the romanian guns looked interesting for about a minute and only because of the price.

I then realized it was like buying cheap aftermarket high caps for my handguns. You pay less for something you hope works, then you get a piece of junk and end up buying factory mags anyway.

That is why i decided to pay i bit more and get a bulgarian gun with a milled reciever from Arsenal. It's not a crap shoot. You have a 100% chance of getting one of the best AK's made.

Do it right the first time so you don't have to do it over.
