Hey guys, I'm relatively new here so I hope I am posting this in the right place and it hasn't been covered before (I did a search but did not find it). I saw a Centerfire Systems ad selling Vietnam Era AR15s. Basically just the look with the A1 stock and triangular handguards. I love the look of the handguards and thought this would be a fun gun to shoot. Does anyone have any experience with these?

I'm new to shooting and collecting guns but I already have one AR (Stag 2T). How would this gun compare to the stag in terms of build quality and reliability? Thanks in advance.

I assume you mean this one:

That's a Century build, and Century is usually close to the last choice (above Hesse, I guess) if there are good alternatives. For the money you can get something nicer and all-brand-new from Del-Ton or Double Star, possibly others. Your Stag is a fairly nice AR and I think you would be disappointed with the Century. The Del-Ton or Double Star would be much closer to your Stag, though the Stag is probably still better in several ways.

well it's not really "correct" but sorta of "along the lines of" I have bought and sold a few Century AR's...deffinately not the finest lower money can buy...I think I'd take an olympic over one! -LOL "parts from parts unknown" in an AR usually equalls "jam-o-matic" reliabillity...a quallity built AR is a thing of beauty and plenty reliable...but this seemingly would be the antithesis of that.

Z-Michigan, yes that is the rifle I am talking about. I was thinking about just buying another stag and putting the handguards on it. I will steer clear of Century, thanks guys.

The triangular hand guards suck when wet. This
from someone who carried one in a jungle.

Of course, everything else sucks in the jungle, too. Not the least of which is being in the jungle.

If you already have an AR, just find a GI M16A1 upper...I built my own retro with one and love shooting it. I prefer the A1 sights, and I prefer the triangle handguards.

Any A1 or A2 style can get that retro look with stock, grip and hand guard. You can put those parts together for around $50.

This is a BM 20" HBAR I bought about two years ago.

I love those wood grips. The finished walnut looks amazing. Of course, if I was going to get a set of those, I would already have plenty of black guns around for SHTF situations, but a looker to take to the range, beautiful.
