I know Century Arms dont provide the best AKs, but I know a Galil is a great AK variant. I got a chance to get one of these, anyone have any input on this "Galil"

Newer ones are generally better. Buddy of mine is looking at a 8lb paperweight. His CAI Galil won't feed reliably, shoots into 2 groups (alternating lefts and right), has a ejector that's being peened over, and locking lugs that are soft.

But other than that it's not bad.

Mine has been flawless from the beginning. The key to identifying new versus old version is the GOL/GAL prefix on the serial number. The older ones allegedly had a number of issues. I can't comment on them as i've never first hand seen any of those issues.

My apologies, I made a mistake on the prefix. I believe GLN is the later prefix. I can't recall what the early one is, either GOL or GAL. Something like that - pardon my vagueness. I don't think Century ever switched contractors, just prefixes. Not sure if they made any changes either.

It's been disucssed in here before.

my Golani has been perfect since day one... it's my 3-gun rifle... I've put a few thousand rounds thru her and as far as accuracy, I hit 4 8" steel plates from 175 yards within 16 seconds during a 3-gun match.... I bought mine used off GB... mine is GAL. it's everything I'll want from a rifle... 35 round standard mags and a 50... longer sight radius compared to standard AK... and night sights... and safety on both sides of rifle... it's my heaviest rifle with very little recoil.. I changed handguard to UTG quad rail...

Is there anyone else besides CIA who makes/imports Galil clones? I realize that it's not possible to get a real one because of the AWB, but I really wish someone other than Century could start making one so that we didn't have to worry about model prefixes.

I've got one of the early ones that was subject to a recall, its functioned fine since its return, although its not seen heavy use. I got the recall notice before I had a chance to shoot it so I've no idea what the problem might have been -- must have been potentially very serious for Century to actually service it!

They do look nice but a hit and miss. i rather get a Palmetto State Armory AR if i want a 5.56 cal rifle.

CNC Warrior sells Galil receivers. Add a parts kit and you're there.

Minus the actual fitting and building and paying for the whole mess.

Sounds like mine except it is an Ohio Rapid Fire. I sent it to Jeff Miller at Hillbilly Firearms in McMinville Tn, he rebuilt it and now you can't make it mess up.
