I've owned (1) Century built gun. An FAL L1A1 Sporter I bought back in the 90's (and still own). Cost me $425.00 back then and I was just a lowly LCpl spending my weekend money on a new gun. I didn't have a clue what I was looking at or how to tell if it was worth a crap. The Gods were smiling on me that day however and I got a good one.
It is built on an Imbel reciever and one heck of a shooter.
I've got no reason to bash Century, I bought that one rifle and have never had any problems with it. A few friends of mine (seeing how good my FAL was) decieded to buy some Century HK/CETME clones and AK's over the years. I've seen a dizzing array of shoddy work on their rifles -ground bolts, canted front site bases, rustoleum re-finish to no re-finish, and the list goes on and on.
After seeing and shooting their stuff, I was glad as heck that
1. Century wasn't in the AK game back then (I bought a Norinco back when)
2. Already owning the FAL and a Springer M1A1 I never have had the interest in owning any type of HK/CETME rifle.
Now years later and wiser I'd still buy another Century rifle. I'd have to be another FAL built on an IMBEL reciever and I'd have to check it over very, very carefully.
