Just curious. Has anybody shot one of the newer Century HK91 clones? Century is apparently making the receivers, too, and the dealer price is $439 or so.

I ask becaue Century CETMEs (also made on their receivers) are usually pretty good, and the designs are so similar I figure that if Century can build one they can build the other.

They're just about your only option for getting an HK91 type these days, unless you've got $2000+ for an original. A few places will build HK91s on parts kits, but they all say they only work with FMP receivers, which seem to be just about as rare as original HK91s these days.

There's a real market, you know. Imagine if a company did for the G3 what DSA does for the FAL? Wouldn't that be nice?

I've heard that the receiver that Century uses to make the CETME and G3 clones is exactly the same. If you want to spend a little more money on a rifle, using a Century receiver, that will work all the time, check out the following:

Jayson at Investment Grade Firearms will work on Century receiver to create a G3/91.

Todd at Rapid Fire in Ohio will also create your choice of HK clone on a Century receiver that has been reworked to actually function well. He does great work. Take a look at the HK page.

Same old thing....I HAD a Century H&K 91 Clone that was a mess and I HAVE a Century/ Imbel FAL thats perfect. Hand inspection is the only way to go.

We did them for awhile. We took post sample NEW HKG3s and bandsawed them for parts. This way we had NEW unused German parts rather then parts from a retired rifle with 30-40 years of military use. And we used New In The White FMP receivers (the only HK contract semi auto receiver available at the time) and *shudder* special weapons (but still better than Hessse or CAI) semi auto fire control parts.

We then had a former FJ Vollmer smith do the build and the finish. It was as close as you could get to a genuine HK. We sold them for $1,400 and did pretty well with them until the FMP receivers dried up.

But stay away from the CAI guns. They are complete junk.

Aren't the Century guns built on the old Hesse tooling?

You can find FMP receivers, you just have to look a bit. IIRC, somebody over at www.sturmgewehr.com was looking to sell all the parts in a package, including the FMP receiver.

Those are FMP "stamping" imported and assembled by Mr. Dremel Wizard Todd Bailey of Special Weapons aka Tactical Firearms Training Academy. No thanks.
