45-70 century
YES. It's by my standards valuable. I ordered one in 1976 and didn't get it until 1989. 13 years was worth the wait. It depends on how the gun was ordered (extras) and the serial number. Approximately the first 500 were made with a machined steel frame. The rest were cast bronze. Mine is cast bronze S/N 96X. It shoots like a dream. I also ordered the holster and cartridge belt they offered made by Lawrence. Depending on condition and how it was outfited $2,000 minimum to maybe $3,500. If there is any paper work keep it.

There's a company that's brought them back to the market.
They are called Bison bull and at this time, they only make them in the 45-70.

The original Century revolvers came in a few LARGE calibers.
The 45-70 being the norm if there is such a thing.
I have one on 50-70 currently.

Wow, quite the revolver!
I think that might be one even if I could get my hands on one, I'd be hesitant to fire it.
I've got a Marlin Guide Gun in 45-70 and it's a handful if you're not paying attention.
Couldn't even imagine touching off a round in a revolver.

I also have a Marlin guide gun and it made my shoulder black and blue with 20 rounds of 500 grain Buffalo Bore ammo. I hit fine, no flinching, but was struck by the recoil impulse. I'm not particularly recoil sensitive either. I would think you guys shoot low pressure "trapdoor" rounds.

A little Trivia?
About 1972-1974 I wanted bigger grips. I talked to the owner for tips on how to align them to the frame. He gave great tips. I commented what a fun gun it was to shoot and it made a big hit when I was visiting a range in San Diego. He said he was in San Diego at the same time I was there to present a 50-70 to Clint Eastwood. There goes Dirty Harry. I can't verify if he did or not but it made for a good conversation.
