I voted for Duracote. Cerakote is a little stronger, but I cannot help but love the ease of Duracote and all of its colors. If the rifle is new nitriding is my favorite costing. Don't get me wrong, Ilove spraying Duracoat and Cerakote, I usually charge about the same for both because I normally bake Duracote for a bit too. They both are about the same thickness. That only depends on how you spray it.

I love Duracoat and have had it done to two of my guns, including a carry gun. I agree Cerakote is a little tougher, but for my money Duracoat is the way to go.

I have no experiences with either Cerakote or Duracoat. I prefer hard chrome plating, like Ron Mahovsky's SS Chromium Metalife.

I like factory bluing , if that is not an option then powder-coating is the way I'd go .

KG Gunkote and Brownells Guncoat is right along the lines of both of the others more like Cerakote than Duracoat as far as toughness. They are both great choices. I do prefer that Duracoated isn't as noxious smelling as Cerakote. Cerakote really hurts my lungs if it gets past my respirator. The main thing is remember to not spray it too thick (with both) and usually a cheap-o disposable airbrush will spray as good as a very expensive one. If either sets up in the spray equipment it can ruin the equipment. I have only been coating for a few years, but it is a passion for me...
