That being said.. thanks for passing it along.. I'll post it here for you this time..!

>>>LINCOLN, N.H. -- A home intruder was shot in the leg in Lincoln on Wednesday night, police said.

Police said an intoxicated man entered an apartment at 29 Main St. at about 8:30 p.m. A resident fired a warning shot into the wall before shooting the man in the leg, police said.

"The best we can piece together is that (the intruder) knew someone who used to live in that apartment, and he thought that individual might still have been there," said Chief Theodore Smith.

The people inside the apartment threw the man out, but police said he returned.

"Then, he proceeded to come back into the place and threatened one of them," Smith said. "The individual pulled out a weapon to defend himself."

Neighbor Woody Woolridge said he didn't hear anything before the gunshots because of construction going on in an apartment next door.

"I heard a shot, and then a little while later, I heard another one," he said.

The resident who fired the shot said the intruder backed him up against his bed.

"He fired one warning shot, then he shot the guy in the leg when the guy continued to advance towards him," Smith said.

That bullet lodged in the floor. Police said the suspect was taken to a hospital for treatment and then placed in protective custody. No one else was injured.

Police said the suspect will likely be charged with criminal threatening and criminal trespass. No charges are pending against the resident.

The resident told News 9 that he didn't get much sleep Wednesday night. He said he kept saying to himself, "I can't believe I shot somebody."<<<

While you are all parting the guy on the back, I hate to rain on the party, but here is the flipside guy with gun had carry permit I remember reading somewhere or hearing on news when it happened. Note he was also not charged with illegal carry. Lucky for him he seems to be a horrible shot too or else this would that much worse of a story.. http://wtop.com/?nid=730&sid=1918912:banghead: Pictures of both guys on left column. Sad all this over an improper merge.

Not to hijack the thread, but, let me get this straight. A man in a dump truck tried to cut off a guy (with his child) in a Jaguar, and when the man in the Jaguar (quite rightly) was angry, and showed it, the guy in the dump truck RAMMED (twice) the Jaguar into the shoulder?

I don't know about firing that many rounds, but if I had my child in the car with me, and someone in a vehicle weighing more than three times mine ran me off the road (which I, and apparently the Dale City PD, consider to be attempted murder), I would also consider defending our lives with my firearm. Someone please let me know if I have this confused.

I've been in a small car that seemed to be in danger from a truck with my daughter in the car before. It's awful.

And that story is pretty bad, I mean, they couldn't have described it in any way other than the truck being hit "far more than four times"? How many more than four, was it six times? Eleven?

There's alot left out in both of these stories.

In the first one what did the drunk guy threaten them with? How did he get into the apartment and then back in again?

In the second one. :what: WTH is wrong with people???

....... A resident fired a warning shot into the wall before shooting the man in the leg, police said.

The shooter's probably a whole lot luckier than he realizes!

Indeed! I can see how the shooter could easily be prosecuted for this (though I am glad that it appears that he will not)... A warning shot into the wall of an apartment complex full of people = not smart. Taking time to shoot the man in the leg also kind of shows he had time to think up a better solution.

I was not there, however, so my view is limited.

For all we know, the guy in the apartment could have been trying to shoot the intruder in the chest twice. 1st miss = "warning shot" 2nd miss = "shot to leg"
