I have an M&P9 compact that i love and want to reload 9mm. I have been reloading 10mm for my Glock 20 and immediately got an aftermarket barrel for better chamber support since i am loading hot 10mm loads. I was wondering how the chamber support in the M&P9s were and if an aftermarket barrel is needed?

The barrel is just fine. I have had several M&Ps, including a M&P9 and a M&P9c. I reload as well and the M&P will eat 9mm loads that other 9s will not.......even with a fully supported chamber.

Chances are your 10mm Glock was safer with the stock barrel. I wouldn't feel safer with a barrel that tends to make my Glock more likely to FTRTB completely.
My Glocks aren't really unsupported at all. I think they're newer and changed models I guess.
If your ammo and springs are good, I wouldn't worry about a 9mm MP9 kaboom.

^^^No disrespect but you are wrong. The glock 20 will do just fine with standard down played loads. But if you load hot rounds you will see the famous "glock smiley face" on your brass.
For example, with standard G20 barrel 13.5gr of AA#9 shows pressure signs where as even with 14.5gr of same show no smiley faces with the Lone Wolf barrel. This is a well known subject. Just heD over to Glocktalk or 10mmtalk and you can see for yourself.

The M&P barrel fully supports the brass casing in the feed ramp area that can, in some autoloaders, be exposed and unsupported. A lack of support in these areas can cause the casing to rupture if the pressure is too great.
Any gun can KB if the pressure is too high. You can even get bulges and ruptures in revolver cases if the cylinder is too weak or if the brass is too small for the cylinder "hole".

if you google this subject, you'll get a million pictures of chamber support comparisons between m&p and others. yes, it's well supported.

+1 I have M&P40 and M&P45 and chamber support all the way to the base of the case.
