I've been waiting for what seems like years to finally get to write up one of these on a Joe Chambers gat! I had some nice write ups on 1911's etc in the past over the years (in other forums), but nothing like this one.

Before I move forward, I understand that this gun, along with most of the guns I post pictures of, review, write up are not guns that 95% of the shooting community will ever get a chance to shoot, let alone own.

Ive been blessed to owned some amazing examples of 1911's! At the time (back in 2012), I had never heard of any of the custom gunsmiths I talk about these days...

Getting into shoot, I knew I was a 1911 guy, but... now with the reappearance of the double stack 1911 (2011 as most know it, 2019 as us Chambers guys know them as), reliable mags like MBX, and some light mods like slide stop hole being moved, it opens up a whole new category in the platform that I am excited to see how the platform evolves even further!

Enough rambling, lets talk about the Reston gat... The day Joe launched the Pro Series guns, I remember him telling me about the Night Fighter... This was the first gun that Joe built off of Chuck Pressburg's specs as his ultimate fighting weapon... Joe insisted that I should get in on one. I asked him for some details and he gave me a high level overview... enough details to get an idea of what it was, but for me, not enough that I was ready to toss out 6K-or whatever the price was without seeing one built. In the months following that, I watched as NF after NF hit the hands of CCP regulars. Jealous doesn't even begin to describe the feeling... Envious, getting closer... Disappointed, probably more accurate... I was really kicking myself for sitting that one out.

As those guns came out and Joe started announcing other Pro Series guns, I told myself there was no chance in heck that I was going to miss out on the next one. The Reston Regulator announcement came out, and I called Joe. I asked if he could tell me about the gun. As in typical Joe Custom fashion, he said... "Its gonna be awesome". That was pretty much all I got. He dropped some hints of stainless small parts (which I am typically not a fan of), and some other minor details... Really the "It's gonna be awesome" line is all it took though.

As I placed my order, I literally couldn't wait to get this gun in my hands! As Joe finished up Jareds gun, I sat by waiting for a call (I was a later serial number order so I knew it would take a bit). Additionally several other things happened... First Joe announced the Light Fighter (Joe and Pressburgs next gun)... Second, a close friend of mine ordered a Phat WMG AND Light Fighter... and Third I took a ride out to Joes farm to hang out with him for a few days!

While at the Farm Joe, was an amazing host... I really cant say enough about the place and what a great time we all had on the river (thanks again Joe). While at the farm, I got he very rare opportunity to not only shoot Joes original Night Fighter, but also his Regulator, and Chucks Pressburgs personal Light Fighter. It was a treat and an experience I'll not soon forget!

Originally I didn't place an order for a Light Fighter... which after shooting Chucks, I was again kicking myself as the thing is totally awesome! But as luck would have it, there was a cancellation and I was able to secure one (More on that in another thread).

Of all the guns I shot, I truly did enjoy the Regulator most... the recoil, the grip that Ben (Simmons from Bore-sight Solutions) did to perfection, and the overall feel were truly different than anything I had ever shot in this category of weapons.

After seeing, feeling, shooting, and talking through my Regulator with Joe, friends, and a few others I came to the conclusion that I 100% wanted satin small parts... to my knowledge Ive only seen Jareds, and maybe one other that didn't go with polished parts. For me the matte stainless parts match the gun perfectly with the aluminum flat trigger and magwell to create an almost perfect contrast to the matte blued carbon parts. I also knew that I wanted a 508T green dot as the matte black body matched the blued parts... Well, as you will see from the pictures, the gun is pure class and looks amazing!

The Regulator in my hand feels like a true fighting weapon. Its not as "glove like" as my single stack guns, but the way its stippled is just right. It is aggressive but comfortable without being overly sharp. The short flat trigger allows me to get my hand and fingers in a perfect position for optimal grip and finger placement. Again, I cant say enough about the way the gun feels in hand.

The recoil on the gun is nearly non existent. My wife and 9 year old daughter were shooting this at 30 feet and neither had an issue hitting a B8 target consistently at that distance. When Joe talks about barrel fit, its not a mythical thing that a lot of people just shrug their shoulders at... it is very real.

Honestly until you have shot a gun with properly barrel fit, you will not understand this or know what you are missing out on. Not only is the barrel fit perfection, the gun is sprung in a way that tracking the green dot is easy (even for me who cant see worth a crap). I want to give Holosun a quick shout out as I never thought I would have one of these on any of my personal guns. I always thought it would be RMR or bust. I honestly like my 508T much better than the Type2 RM06.

That brings me to the man the gun was made for... Jared Reston! If you all have not read his story or watched his video presentation on youtube, do it. The guy literally stared death in the face and told it f u c k off. That is what you call a bad ***. I am really honored to have a gun designed by him and built by Joe in my stable. Not only that, but I have gotten a chance to chat a few times with him (Jared) now... what an awesome guy he is! I am not going to get into the details of our conversations, but a truly impressive guy who literally seems like he would do anything for you! I am scheduled to train with him this October, in which I'll be running the Reston Regulator in that class!

Ive always considered myself a pretty decent shot... Well, shooting B8's at 25 yards will humble you real quick! Since getting this firearm I have roughly 3000 rounds through it (got it at the begining of July). Not one single issue at all... Its impressive to say the least! I have fed her a steady dose of 115gr, 124gr, and 147gr bullets, and they all run fantastic. In all honesty, there were times I was just mag dumping hoping to cause a jam or failure as I wanted to know what the thresh hold would be before she had a hiccup... nope. Not a damn one.

Below are some pictures I took over the weekend while I was down at my wife's families farm. There are also some B8 Targets I downloaded from Fishers website. Im not far from off in my quest to shoot a 100 with the gun... but it is still gonna take some trigger time. I really hope you all enjoyed this little write up and I honestly cant express how much I love this gun so far.
