I have a safe that is several years old with an electronic lock that so far has worked fine. But lately started eating batteries. I have read that some people change them out to a manual dial lock. anyone who has done this have a recommended lock and instructions?

I have a dead lock right now and have an open thread that’s still running about my particular situation. A poster just commented that he swapped out an electronic for a mechanical lock that was $80 on Amazon. I think I found that unit and May go ahead and take that plunge in the very near future. I am very interested in swapping to mechanical, and if I do then I will do my best to document the process and post it on THR for everyone else to see.

I have been considering doing something similar for awhile. I love the convenience and speed of an electronic keypad lock. I have had electronics fail in the past and it just takes one electronic failure related to firearms to change a mindset, at least for me. Maybe when tax return money comes in I will call some locksmiths about adding a mechanical lock to my safe. As I don't think it is quite DIY level.
