I inherited a Charles Daly B.C. Mirouku O/U 12ga from my grandfather it is a beautiful gun and i want desperately to take it out shooting but he always told me it fired both barrels at the same time. He never had a gunsmith fix it cause he could just put one shell in it(he was known for being a little cheap):D

I can't find a model on the gun anywhere so i am at a loss as to looking up if this is a common problem for these guns. I can't find a gunsmith in my area so i don't know if this is something i can fix or a gunsmith only thing. If anyone knows a good gunsmith in the west central illinois area please let me know. thanks
 
Frist thing to do is to clean firing mechanism. If the problem persists with light or standard game or target loads then heavier inertia weight in trigger mechanism might be needed.
 
Most of the Mirouku Daly guns were, by all standards, a 101Winchester. They are very well made. If a good cleaning doesn't cure it a good Smith can. I had a 20ga Franchi that would fire both barrels with heavy loads. They will get your attention.;)
 
It is quite gummed up he was a believer in heavy oiling and then putting the guns away to sit in the gun cabinet. The safety is barely movable, the barrel release is sticky, as are the shell ejectors. A good cleaning is what i originally believed was wrong with it but i don't have a manual for the gun and quite frankly i haven't the slightest clue how to take it apart. thanks
 
you could always send it to me here in texas and I will clean it up real nice and shoot it as often as I can. after a few thousand rounds of it not firing both barrels at the same time I'll send it back to ya....
 
Make sure you use screwdrivers that fit the screw slots in the trigger guard. The slots are narrower than what we are used to, if you bugger the slots you can't go to Lowes for replacements.
 
Tell me about it those were a @#$%^ luckily they were loose enough i could get them out with a very small screwdriver. I may replace the screws and keep the originals so they don't get destroyed. The gun has been apart before because somebody had a hard time getting them off to but not to bad. I got the stock off and no broken parts or springs fell out so I'm not sure whats going on. I cleaned everything i could reach with q-tips soaked in hoppes but it still fires both barrels.

I have read herehttp://www.wisnersinc.com/additional_info/Mirokusprings.html and it sounds like it is a broken hammer spring which is still available on numrich but it says it requires a very good gunsmith to fit the new spring to the gun as they are engraved and fitted to match each gun.
 
Get a can of gun scrubber and flush out the action with that, the high pressure spray will clean out any dirt/dried oils. Then lube with rem oil, don't over do it as the oils will run down the action and soak into the stock.
Some guys blow the action out with compressed air to remove excess oil.

If all that does not fix it, then there is always Arts Gun Shop or Mid West Gun Works. Both are specialists in Brownings and the BC Miroku is the fore runner of the Citori.

The one i had used a coil spring. Importer address was New York, NY. There were other Dalys with flat spring, not made by Miroku. The early Browing Citoris are the same, as far as i know, if made by Miroku

Not sure what the my hammer spring looks like but in the link I'm a type 3 top lever spring.
As for the arts gun shop and midwest gun works they are over 3 hours away from me and i'd really rather not ship the gun i'd like to talk to the gunsmith myself not just put it in a box and hope it gets fixed and makes it there in one peice.

I found a guy about 45 min away from me that i've had do gun transfers before at auctions. That i knew had a gun shop but i'd never been too. Well he's a gunsmith as well and i didn't even know it, so i think i'll see if he is up to the task if not i may have to go to a big shop.
 
Do you have pictures of yours i like an idiot didn't take pictures before i left so i can't show it.
This is what i can remember about it though
It has nice wood with checkering on the forearm and is engraved on the sides but not on the trigger guard except for the screw heads. The top lever isn't engraved either. The chokes turned out to be modified and improved, the shell extractor is not spring powered it just pulles them up for you to take out. I'd like to have spring powered ones myself, the stock is straight no check piece to it, butt pad is black with b.c. miroku on it and i can't remember about the grip cap i know it's black but i can't remember if it has a white diamond to it or not i believe it's just black though.

Ok been looking through pictures on google and i believe it is a venture assuming that some sellers on arms list are correct in what there selling.

This may be caused by a worn sear. The gun may fire when you close the action.

If you want to testfire the gun,

A double barrel makes a perfect platform for Aguila mini shells, and the recoil on two of those at once would not break many bones.
