We have one in the local pawn shop and I have been looking at getting a new semi auto for duck hunting so I don't have to use my nice Beretta target gun.

It's a basic synthetic black stock and the rest is all black also. Can you please tell me what you think about these and if it is worth the $499 he's asking?

Thanks. I have been looking and looking for a semi auto for birds. If anyone knows of one please let me know.

Honestly, I wouldn't do it. $499 is way out of line for a gun that basically has no support since CD folded.
I bought one 5 or so years ago for waterfowl hunting and in the 1st trip out the bolt handle shered off. Fixed it, then on the 2nd time out a plastic price that's inside the back of the receiver crumbled and made the gun into an oar. Sent it to CD and had it back in a couple weeks. 3rd time out with it, it would fire, but not eject. I threw it in the water and used an old beat up 870 and killed 4 ducks.

I wouldn't do it. Some CD semis are reliable and some are not. The problem lies in the parts situation, as many of the important parts are just not available. Tons of replacement barrels and stock combos are available at Numrich Arms, (http://www.gunpartscorp.com/), but extractors, trigger assys and other items are nearly impossible to find, at least in my travels around the internet.
Stick to the Remingtons or Winchesters or other brands that you can get parts for, and you will be a lot happier.

Here's a sample of deals available at Gunbroker.com.

I think you'd be better served by passing on that CD. Then if you want a no-frills semi auto for ducks and can scrounge another $150ish, you get into 1187 sportsman or Beretta a300 Outlander territory.
