Does anyone here own one? How reliable are they? I just got a used 12ga field shotgun and after tinkering with it a bit figured out how to break it down and clean the barrel. This is my fist semi-auto shotgun, so i need to know what to do about cleaning and oiling the gun. Help please?

The 12 gauge CDs tend to be more troublesome than the 20 gauge CD. It is really hit or miss with their spotty quality control. Yet, you seldom hear a complaint about the 20 gauges. I do not own one nor have I ever shot one. Only referring to the many gun forums detailing the problems with them.

Hmm... i guess ill have to wait and see if someone pops up that has one. I have a 20ga H&R and have been wanting a 12ga. I finally got one, a Mossberg 500, then ended up selling it to my mom(dads Christmas present) and bought this one. Paid $250 for it(i think its a good deal) and with the other $150 ill get from her (sold her the gun for $400, its new and has a scope) i might get another 500 or a different gun, havent decided yet.

Im not really sure what to expect having never fired a semi-auto shotgun, but i think ill enjoy it. If anyone would like, i can post a picture of both guns.

Give it a good field test and post your results here for us. I'd like to know how it shoots with a couple of boxes shot from it. Any cycling issues, etc., you experience with your CD.

Looking forward to your results.

Ok. On my lunch i went out and fired the shotgun. 5 rounds, one shot per second(took a little time to aim each).

Everything seems fine so far. The gun is very easy to disassemble for cleaning.

Im not sure what choke it has so im not using slugs until i get another. I think it might be a full based on the damage to the target (old hubcaps, very thin metal and theyre free).

No issues with jamming or improper loading. No issues with firing. Trigger is better than some ive fired, steady pull and predictable. Of course the one im comparing to is my grandpas and very old. I like the trigger pull.

I still need to do further testing with more ammo and some slugs, get some idea of accuracy (i do realize its a shotgun, not a precision rifle)

I will report back when i have more information.
