Well so far I have put about 500 rounds through my CD semi auto with no problems whatsoever. Of course I clean it after every shooting session too.

The only thing I have found that the CD does not like is the Winchester AA light loads. It just wont cycle them. It does however like the following so far:

-Estate #6 heavy game loads
-Remington #6 game loads
-Sellier & Bellot 00 Buck
-Winchester 3" BB Steel
-Remington 00 Buck
-Remington 2 3/4 #2 steel
-Kent #4 game loads

Personally, if anyone is thinking of buying an inexpensive semi auto 12 gauge, I would look at the Charles Daly. Not as pretty as a Remington, Beretta or Benelli, but it works... at least for me so far!

It will cycle standard field loads. It just does not like the AA target loads. I have seen Bennellis and Brownings that won't cycle the AA target loads. The AA target loads are mainly for pumps, single shots and doubles anyway.

The last rounds I fired (about 20) through my Charles Daly were Winchester 3" BB during a duck hunt after installing a Carlson choke for steel shot about a month ago and had ZERO problems. After every shooting session I take the gun apart and clean it like I do all my guns. As for recoil, its a semi auto so that absorbs most of the recoil anyway. I'm not very recoil sensitive and I don't see a problem with that in the Charles Daly. I regularly shoot 2 3/4 and 3" #4 and 00 buck as well as slugs out of my tactical Remington 870 so the Charles Daly is a pussy cat as far as I am concerned.
