This is a question that came out of my other thread about speedloaders. That threat was born of some late-night frustration, but it produced some very good advice.

Here's the problem. The revolver in question has the standard grips that come with it. There are no differently shaped grips that I have been able to find. The Undercover should use the same speedloader as a J-frame Smith.

So, anybody have a loader that worked well with a Charter Arms?

Alternately, does anyone know of speedloader-compatible grips for a CAU?

Which gun do you have? Original Charter Arms or Charter 2000? They have different grips (same grip frame). The older ones had either wood Bulldog grips or the skinny S&W J frame type. The Charter 2000 guns have either boot grips or a combat style grip. Both are rubber. I have Pachmayr Compacts on my Undercover and the factory bootgrips on my Offduty. HKS speed loaders work great on on both. They also work just fine on the bigger factory grips. They use the same speed loader as the J frame. Couldn't say about the Bulldog grips. Mine dissappeared years ago.

I think this is one of the original ones. The rollmark says "Charter Arms Corp. Stratford, Conn."

The grips are checkered wood, like a S&W model 10, with Charter Arms medallions. They follow the shape of the frame, so they are pretty skinny.

Sounds like an original Charter Arms gun. It'll still use the same grips and speed loaders as the Charter 2000 guns.
