I just purchased my first 1911. The grips are a bit thicker and more aggressively textured than I want for it, though. Can someone recommend me grips that:

A) Are cheap
B) Work with an ambi safety
C) Are not too aggressively textured (it's a 9mm range toy)
D) Are thin
E) Looks at least halfway decent on a parkerized 1911

Unfortunately most of them don't have descriptions other than how they look. Things such as how thick they are aren't present on some of the product info sections.

I think the magpul grips have a very generous relief cut for the thumb on their grips, so they may feel thinner in your hand. And they're dirt cheap.

Relief cuts are usually not for lefties.

That's actually the problem with my current grips (the aggressive texturing). Very comfy right-handed, but left-handed my thumb is sitting on some sharp edges.

I bought three sets of grips from this guy on eBay and they are well made. I like thicker grips with aggressive surface so I chose wasp design but maybe he has something you would like. Worth a look.

I will second the Magpul grips .

I bought a used Ruger SR1911 and the previous owner had installed the Magpul grips on it and included the factory grips . As nice looking as the factory grips are , I left on the Magpul grips because they felt good in my hand .

Check out Kim Ahrends (ahrendsgripsusa.com), for thin 1911 grips. I have a set of his skip checkered grips on my TacSol .22 conversion and I love the way they look and feel.
