the cetmes seem to have reliability issues and are drying up and getting pricey ar's are still plentiful what am i looking at for cheap ar's what are some good $300- 500 options for me besides ak (ps what are the century galils going for!!!!????)

Look around on the forums for used parts. I just built a 16" AR complete for $465 and I'll have another done next week for $510.

The cheapest I've found new would put you in the $610-$630 range if you buy/build a lower and buy a complete upper.

Building an AR from a parts kit... step by step

A: unpack and lay out parts
B: assemble lower
C: attach upper to lower with take down pins
D: insert mag and shoot

Total elapsed time, 15-20 minutes....

AGI's videos do a good job of showing you how to assemble/disassemble an AR15. If you get a completed upper, all of the hard work is done for you, you just assemble the remaining parts and pins. The first one I built this way took me 40 minutes, I had to rewind the video several times to make sure I have the spings and such right. A friend put one together in 15 minutes, but he worked on then in the Army.

Yeah, I've HEARD the Century Galils are actually assembled by Vulcan. I've also HEARD the retail price is about 800, with a dealer price of 600-650. I'm eager to see one first hand and hear some range reports.

Again, You don't want one.......

I do My builds with DPMS uppers and lowers are stripped Stags. They function flawlessly and I wouldn't cut a corner anywhere. Last one a 1 6' A2 cost Me 610.00. I just don't know what You'd get for much less.......Essex
