How do you define "cheap" and what do you plan to use it for? To a certain extent you get what you pay for. At the least expensive end are the Stoeger and Spartan brands. On the far other end, well, I have paid less for cars.

Besides Stoeger & Spartan models you might want to look at the Mossberg line.

They are made in Turkey as you mentioned but seem to be a lot of gun for the money. I think the local shop here sells them for in the $425 - $450 range and from looking at them I see nothing wrong with the workmanship.

How you intend to use the gun will probably help ID how cheap you can go. You haven't put a dollar value on cheap either. Any inexpensive O/U is like to have a few compromises in the design. I own a 20 ga Baikal O/U, now sold as Spartan. They tend to be butt ugly but built like tanks. Having more time than money I don't mind working on the wood because the sound mechanicals make the effort worthwhile. I've shot mine a lot (no firm count but I'd guess about 5K by now) and it has never given me any trouble. If your needs are modest probably any of the guns mentioned will be OK but if you intend higher volume shooting and cheap is a priority maybe you should look at a pump instead. Either a Mossberg 500 or Remington 870 will serve you very well for many many years,

Just my personal bias - but from my reading I'm not yet convinced that most Trukish O/U's are ready for prime time. Particulary the ones from Khan (also sold as Mossberg Silver Reserve). Though I expect they will be fully acceptable in time, for now the major complaint seems to be inconsistancy. You might get a good one or a lemon and the lemons are not that rare. It's not a bad idea anyway but if you go Turkish take an experienced friend with you and carefully examine the exact gun you're considering buying.

I saw an Ithaca SKB in 20ga at a gun show recently that the owner only wanted $500 for. I already have one (and 2 other 20s) or I would have bought it.

The Ithaca SKB in 20 gauge is a great gun. 6.25lb, and aims like a guided missile.

There's a real Ithaca 16 Ga SxS in my local shop for $300. Color case still 95%+. That gun, though not new, is better than anything new for anywhere near the money.

Otherwise, get a CZ (Huglu) SxS 20 Ga. It's a genuine bargain in that it's truly a great gun, but not too expensive. It's beautiful in appearance, flawless in construction, and swings like an old English gun.

Don't get a cheap O/U. The Spartan and Stoeger are overweight clunkers that swing like pickaxes. I'd consider a Mossberg (nice gun made by Khan), but for a few bucks more I'd get the CZ SxS instead, because it's a really nice gun at any price.

new york hunter; I am not familiar with the combo but I know of the condor supreme. It is the only o/u from Stoger in that price range with an SST. Not sure how one would go about attaching a sling to it but at least the 20ga handles and seems to shoot ok. The gun won't win any beauty contests either.

P.S.; Please do not post in all caps.
