Does anyone know where I can get a cheap shotgun for $100 or less? My friend and I are thinking about getting a bunch of experimental rounds and testing them out and I don't want to ruin a perfectly good $300-$400 shotgun while testing the rounds out.

I'd be more worried about ruining my perfectly good face and my perfectly good limbs.

Try a pawn shop.

As to your price-point comparison, some might not consider a 3-400 gun any better than your 100 one, but that's another thread.......:D

Not saying there isn't, but I've never heard of armor piercing shotgun ammo.

Its a 3 1/2" 10 ga saboted down to .177 cal with a depleated uranium slug shot out of a 30" barrel Marlin Goose Gun:D

Quote from what you posted above:
This awesome round houses enough power to penetrate the thickest car doors, commercial steel doors and most objects up to 1/4" steel plate. This slug has a steel penetrator button, boosted by a very hot charge, has an unbelievable velocity to slice through metal like a hot knife slices through butter.

To the best of my knowledge, just about any 12ga slug will blow through a car door like it wasn't even there. Most commercial steel doors are hollow and not very strong at all, so going through one is not much of an accomplishment. I'd trust a 2 3/4" Remington slugger to go through MOST "commercial steel doors"

The 1/4" steel plate might be the only one that actually might show higher performance than a regular slug. But then again, i don't know what type of steel they are talking about. Hardened steel is very different that soft "mild steel."

Overall, these rounds sound about as mall-ninja-tastic as the Extreme Shock line.

Now if oyu make your own AP rounds, that would be awesome and I'd hope to see tests.

Oh, and I'll second the advice to find a second-hand NEF/H&R single-shot breakopen gun. I got one that was in rough shape but mechanically like new for $65 two years ago.

I'm not planning on actually using the ammunition for anything it's just for fun. We have a bunch of stuff to shoot, we were also going to go buy a few bullet proof vests at the good ol' army surplus and see if we can get through the trauma plates with any exotic rounds.

sounds dangerous. Check you local laws before you do such things, make sure the range allows this, if your on land make sure your local laws permit you to shoot. Becarefull I saw a video this got shot a steel plate with .50calBMG and it came back and hit him in the earmuffs.

Remember gun safty starts with you.

You can get a cheap Charles Daly for under $170 at some gun stores, I know a local one had a cheap-o shotgun for $150 that was a 4+1 (I think)

It's all good, he lives waaaay out in the country so no one will know anyway. Does anyone know where to get some cheap plexi-glass or other bullet proof type glass?

real story...

A friend of a friend shooting 7.62x39 at metal (I think it might have been steel rims) in an abandoned quarry. A ricochet nailed him in the chest. Lots of blood, hospital, etc. Thankfully he didn't die. FWIW...

Okay, thanks. I was planning on welding some scrap metal together so we can test out the armor piercing rounds.

Amor piercing shotgun rounds? :)

Hmmm, help me out, I'm struggling to think of what one would need them for.

Maybe some of those mean feral hogs? :)

Or maybe mall-ninja culling, different thread though.

Let me go ahead and copy & paste this just for you...

What I said earlier \/

I get it.

But if you were serious about all this you'd incorporate white phosphorus in the mix.

It's one thing penetrating armor - any monkey can do that. But melting the skin of everyone inside the armored structure?

Well, that is priceless.

What like an armor-piercing tracer round? The website we are looking at also has 'exploder' rounds that you can fill with an explosive mix (the company provides the instructions to make it) so those could work.

Brilliant. Melting people wearing body armor certainly fits my definition of HIGH ROAD. Well, actually it doesn't. Maybe you boys should find another place to play. And the congregation said.......

We're joking, chill out man, if I wanted to melt people I would use an acid spitting flamethrower strapped to a half-dragon, half-unicorn.

Seems like one 'boy' has a sense of humor failure.

Maybe I should include a :) next time for the hard of learning?
